Hp 4215-v officejet printer.. scanner functions not installed

It says i need to run device software ...i downloaded the auto installer program from u guys... but its not seeing the scanner still.. any suggestions?

    My HP4215 4 IN 1 WILL only print when installed by Vista. Can't seem to find appropriate driver.

    I have the 4215 officejet all in one and the scanner does not work and hasnt worked for a long time. When I hit scanner it says to download software device. Help.

    I've downloaded the software off the internet (though my printer has been working all along, except for the scan function).  I've checked and the download did not include scan function.

    My printer works but the scanner won't. It says I need to download the software. Any solutions? It was working before without a problem then I got a new compter system and now it won't scan.

    when i press ok button on printer it says to install software for scanner but i can't seem to locate that software

For those folks who have Windows 7...
Click start from menu (bottom left of window pane),
Click "Devices and Printers",
Click on the HP printer listed,
Click "scan a document or picture"...

CALL IT DONE!!!! Gotta LOVE Windows 7...EASY!

1. Connect HP4215 to power and USB
2. Left mouse button click Start
3. Right mouse button click Computer
4. Left mouse button click Manage
5. Left mouse button click Device Manager
6. Left mouse button click "+" (plus sign) next to any HP devices including Imaging Devices
7. Right mouse click then left mouse click (for each device) Uninstall
8. Remove 4215 from USB
9. wait a moment and exit manage
10. reconnect USB and re-enter device manager
11. watch and wait for 4215 to reinstall itself (takes a minute)
12. Click on HP Director and scan documents and it 'should' open

I don't have a solution but I do have a problem. I have never used my scanner and I need to scan something for work. I am not sure how to do this. I see that you can insert the paper from the back side, I push scan but nothing happens. Can you tell me what I am doing wrong?

Solutuion 1-open the door for the print cart. close the door.

solution 2- change or switch the usb cable.

When downloading drivers from HP's website it is important to remember one thing!
You MUST turn off any anti-virus software that you have on your PC/Laptop.
If you don't they will not be downloaded correctly.
If you don't the drivers will not be downloaded correctly and you will continue to have issues.

Do not have program for hp officjet 4300 all in one series i want to install the program in order to use printer to scan, fax, copier
before you click on the links below,first determine the flatform or system type of your operating system.you will be needing that in downloading the correct software.here's how to do it: -click on start (pearl button) -right-click on computer or my computer -go down to properties -look for the operating system and system type (32-bit or 64-bit)

Scanner is not working
Try This :
You Need to install the full feature software for the printer ;
First uninstall the entire software from your computer
Unplug the USB cable;
Then put the CD in the computer ;
Goto My computer- Right click on Black HP logo - Click on Explore - Open UTIL (Folder)- Open CCC (Folder)- Double Click on UNINSTALLATION L3 file;
If you don't have the Cd Uninstall the software from Add and remove programs
Restart the computer ;
Click on the below given link it will help you download the software :

Select your OS;
Select the Full feature Driver;
Click on Download ;
Save to your desktop;
and then run the software;

You wouldn need to install scanner driver for it. To check whether they installed or not you would need to go to Device manager then check whether there scanner installed or not

Hi there,
  • Unplug the printer cable from the computer.
  • Unistall the printer drivers from Device manager and also unistall the all the printer appications
  • restart the computer
  • try to download drivers from the website
  • after installing drivers and software it will ask you to connect the printer.
  • then you can connect the printer and and try to Print the test page.

Scan using the HP OfficeJet 4215 Printer
The problem is with Windows Vista...it does not recognize the scan button when you touch it on the scanner. There are two ways around this:
Go to Programs / Windows Fax & Scan / Click new scan / click file and then click scan
OR
Go to Accessories / Paint / Cick File /click from scanner or camera / click scan

Hello sonyamac,

You can download the software directly from the manufacturer and install it without the CD. Go to www.hp.com/, find and click Software & Driver Downloads, select Download drivers and software, type officejet 4215 in the box and press enter. Select which officejet matches yours: 4215, 4215v or 4215xi (you can find that info on a label attached around your printer. Sometimes the model is only described as CXXXXA format. If that is all you got, go back to the prior page and type that model instead of officejet 4215. You should reach a page where you select which operating system you are using, click on it and on the next page you can select which software you want to download. After saving your download, just open the program, follow the installation instructions and you should be ready to print in no time. Hope this helps.
