The my book world has 3 different kinds of flashes.

1. Fast flashing (every 3 seconds) - Which means it's going into standby mode.

2. Slow flashing (every 5 seconds) - Which means it's in standby mode.

3. Alternative flashing between inner and outer ring - Means RAID failure (this only applies if you have the RAID compatible version [dual drive my book world])

4. Simultaneous flashing - Means the drive is overheating and the drive needs to be shut down.

Try resetting the drive, using the link below for guidance (this will not effect your data). If the drive does power-up, you will need to change the IP to static, if you had it that way before and you will need to login with the following login details: Username: admin | Password: 123456

Lacie Case Only lighting up when HD is disconnected

I had the same problem with a 1TB hard drive. The fault was caused by the casing being knocked from the computer and falling onto the desk. If the hard drive hadn't been powered up it would have been ok...
I removed the hard drive from the casing and fitted it into my computer as a slave drive, hoping to access all the music and movies stored in it. No go .. But, it's worth you fitting your hard drive as a slave and trying the same. It's worth a shot.
I took the hard drive to a computer market here in China, where I work. These guys take hard drives apart to fix them, if possible. They couldn't fix my hard drive as it had been powered on when it fell ..
However, I bought a new desktop hard drive and they were able to transfer 95% of all things from the old hard drive to the new one. The cost of transferring from the old hard drive to the new hard drive was the same as the price of the new hard drive. That specialist service doesn't come cheap ... but it can be done. I paid simply because I didn't want to lose what had taken more than a year to download.
Try fitting your hard drive as a slave to see if you can access the information on it. If not, a new hard drive and the cost of transferring your music from your old hard drive may be the only course of action left open to you

I disconnected my WB drive by accident, and now i cant acces it from any of my computers... the blue light is on and flicking but it wont open. how can i fix this. gabriel felix mexico

Since you said you are unable to access it from any of your computers might external HD might have crashed. The only advice I can give you in this case is to remove any power to the device, then plug in the USB first then the power, see if the computer detects it. If not reboot the computer and test

hope this helps

Bought a new network hard drive 1tb iomega. Operating system requirements is XP. Saleman said it would update on line & work with windows 7. doesnot happen for me . Is it compatible or not? CD will not...

The drive will not update itself automatically. You will have to download the firmware update and update it yourself. You may also want to get the latest Manager software that is Windows 7 compatible.

Firmware Version 2.064: https://iomega-na-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/iomega_na_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=21149

1 TB Esata/FireWire400/USB 2.0 disk problem, one flashing light

have you checked the output on the power adapter when you plugged in? if not, there is no hard reset for the drive. you just have to isolate the board on you external hdd.

Light is on but no one is home.

please remove the raw drive from the casing
if its a sata connect it directly to your pc using a power cable for sata drive and a data cable and connect it to the mother board
i am sure it would detect your drive
if no then your drive has lost its firm ware ata module or the rom bin file

if you know how to fix firmware the drive can be up again
pm me if you cant solve your problem

Blue light flashed on the portable hard drive for a couple seconds. How do I know if all files were transfered? Nothing on screen showed up? I have a HP laptop.

If your portable hard drive was set up as the "H" drive, go to My Computer (in Windows XP), or Computer (in VISTA), select your "H" drive and view your files (if there).

Flash pictures too blue - optio 750z - help?

Try playing with the exposure compensation lever. Turn it down a few notches when you use flash. I do that all the time to prevent over exposure Or you can set the flash compensation in the setup.
