Forgot password need to reset jumper pins - HP Pavilion 510c PC Desktop

use a small coin sized CMOS battery to store all BIOS settings along with the password. To reset the password, unplug the PC, open the cabinet and remove the CMOS battery for approx. 15-30 minutes and then put it back. It'll reset all BIOS settings as well as the password and you'll need to re-enter all settings.

If it fails, then try to remove the battery for at least one hour.

B. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:

Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.

When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.

There should be 3 pins with a jumper on 2 of the pins on the motherboard. Put the jumper on the other 2 pins and turn it on. Once it boots turn it back off and put the jumper back. That should reset the bios password.

sometimes the admin doesnt have an pasword. do you have vista or xp?

There is no solution with out getting in the cabinet and removing the CMOS battery or moving the CMOS jumper on the CMOS pins. Desktop computers have a password reset built onto their motherboards. This reset area has three pins with a jumper on two of the pins, when you need to reset the cmos (and get rid of a password) this jumper has to be moved over to the pin next to it and the computer powered up to reset the cmos, then the computer gets powered down and the jumper placed back in the normal position.

IF YOU KNOW THE BIOS PASSWORD YOU CAN GO TO BIOS AND CLICK ON CHANGE PASSWORD AND IF YOU FORGOT THE BIOS PASSWORD YOU NEED TO OPEN THE SYS. AND ON MOTHERBOARD THEIR IS A SMALL JUMPER THAT SAYS BIOS JUMPER ON IT YOU NEED TO REMOVE IT AND PUT IT IN PRONK 2 &3 AND RESTART THE SYS. AND THEN AGIN TURN OFF THE SYS. AND PUT THE JUMPER BACK TO PRONK 1 & 2 AS IT WAS EARLIER. AND IT WILL REMOVE THE BIOS PASSWORD.

ok what you will need to do is reset the bios. just take out the bios battery for a couple ofseconds then putit back in this normaly resets the password Regards Slitwrists

If you remove the CMOS battery for about 10 sec with the pc unplugged, should clear it, OR
Usually close to the battery (looks like a watch battery), there is a Jumper, with 3 pins labled CMOS Reset, move the jumper to the pins they are not on now and power the PC on and back off, then replace the jumper to the default pins. That will reset Password.
