SOURCE: Dirt Devil Swivel Glide

look on the underside where the brush roller is and unplug it first then try to turn the brush roller by hand,if it turns real freely the belt is broke.you might have a clog at your intake hose at the bottom its the clear looking hose that goes from the bottom and comes up the back.if the belt is broke before you put a new one on clean the motor shaft there might be some old belt rubber on it ,otherwise the new belt won't last

SOURCE: How do I repalce the belt on Dirt Devil Swivel Glide upright vac?

Four screws hold the bottom plate in place. Turn the vac upside down and remove the screws that hold the cover(bottom plate) over the brush roll in place. Remove the plate and you are there.

Swivel glide has no suction in the hose but seems to have a bit at the head, definatly not alot. can i fix this myself somehow?

Get ahold of a plumbers snake, disconnect the hose and run it through unclogging it .
Undo hose and see if there is suction right at the socket where the hose plugs into to see if there is suction there.

Inside the place where the bag goes, at the bottom there is a motor dust filter, see if it is clogged.

Also at the beatter brush, make sure that there is not dirt crammed around the nozles input, and check to see if the belt is not slipping on the beatter bar and remove the wound threads from the beatter bar it self.

Best!
