Toshiba TV won't turn off

I have an older 32" Toshiba TV. Starting two days ago, the TV refuses to turn OFF. When I try to turn it off (using the remote/switch on the TV), the sound goes off but the video still stays on, so that the power button functions like a mute button now.
Any ideas what could be wrong?

If your comfortable doing it remove the back and unhook the connector from the inferred sensor board, then try to turn the set on with the buttons on the set and shut it off again, if it works ok then that board is bad, if you still have the issue replace the main board

Toshiba 32AV500u turns on and the screen is lit, but I cannot get into the menu or change inputs. Do I just need to change the main board?

Are you sure you are using the remote control it came with?

Buttons on the front of TV usually go bad as no one uses them.

50in Panasonic Tv won't power on. The tv worked fine the day prior, but refuses to cut now.. No matter where you plug it in to , it doesn't work. Please help. Jus bought the tv in November .

Did you try to use button on TV to turn on? Maybe remote battery bad?

A week ago the TV did would not power on for a 24 hour period, then it turned on at the first attempt, worked OK for five days and powered-off itself yesterday and refuses to poweron again.

See if this works: unplug the TV; hold down the "on" button on the TV itself for one minute, then plug it back in.

Toshiba TV will not turn on

Try to have the TV unplugged over night. If that does not solve it you may have to have the TV power supply circuit inspected for leaking capacitors, loose solders or may be a bad IC.

Bad picturre on toshiba tv

Good Day, pieps57;

Corrective Action: Remove the MVUP13 Hyper Module from the TV chassis, remove the top shield and replace the 10uf, 16v capacitors using Part Number 24619040. It’s recommended that all of the capacitors identified be replaced (Note: These capacitors are low impedance surface mounted aluminum electrolytic capacitors. Care should be taken to avoid damaging the PCB while replacing these capacitors.) CAPS: cx178, cx221, cx230, cx241, cx250, cx261, cx270, cx541, cx670 & c514, c5030.
