Chances are you need a new (bigger) Power supply in it and a new hard drive. The power supply did not provide enough power to the hard drive at some time recently and the files written to it by windows have been corrupted.

A code 10 is usually indicative of a device that is not recognized by the computer, this could mean that is has failed, has become dislodged from its connector or the drivers are no longer valid or have failed to the point where they do not point the system to the device. Try downloading new drivers for the device. If that fails, try to remove the keyboard and replace with same or newer and check all connections. Below is the link to the service manual.
I would unplug it and take the battery out. Then plug only the ac adapter in and turn on. If still no video. Try external monitor. If still no video check HP recall list. I think these laptops have known chip problems. Maybe you can get warranty repair. search for hp recall laptops dv. then you'll see if yours is on the list. and contact them to see if included in extended warranty. Basically I suspect a chip problem here if no video on external monitor or internal
I do not know if this is the answer you are looking for, but I know that when I connected my S-video connection to some old crappy big screen TV, I had to set the laptop's second video output to specifically output to S-video. There were 3 or 4 different settings that had to be done. I dont remember the details, all I remember is that the 1. the second video monitor had to be set to the s-video connection. 2. the analog video setting had to be set to PAL or NTSC or whatever they are, I dont know what it is off the top of my head, then there was another setting, I dont remmeber, I think it was the setting to 'clone' the screen so that it just duplicated it. In this case, you might have to set the resolution to somthing smaller that would fit on a standard definition screen.
If you are not getting any audio through the laptop without the hdmi cable check that the volume control has not been turned down on either the laptop or on the windows volume control icon in the bottom right corner of your screen. Sometimes the easy solutions are the hardest to find.
