Ok, well the 0x80070057 error code typically occurs because of 3rd party driver issue!

so, this is long but a program that fixed this was removed (sad)

rename the "SoftwareDistribution" folder:
Click Start, Choose Run.
In the Run box, type: services.msc
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Stop.
Stopping the service will take a moment.
Now rename the "SoftwareDistribution" folder:
a) Click Start, click Run, type
%systemroot%
...and then click OK.
b) Right-click the SoftwareDistribution folder, and then click Rename.
c) Type SoftwareDistribution.old and then press ENTER to rename this folder.
Now click Start, and choose Run.
In the Run box, type: services.msc
Click OK.
Right-click the Automatic Updates service.
Click Start.
Starting the service will take a moment.
NB - You will lose your update download history but this is not that important really being a fresh comp!

good luck! lamby

My computer has started taking a long time to change screens and find stuff. It seems that I sit and wait on everything I try to pull up. Is there something I can do to solve this so I don't have to sit...

A catch all answer to this question would be reinstalling your operating system.

1. Uninstall unused programs and delete files YOU CREATED that you do not need. Also delete all your temporary internet files. You want to free up hard **** space. Less files for your computer to go through to find what it needs speeds up all aspects of your computer.

2. Run MSCONFIG and click on the startup tab. Uncheck anything that is NOT needed to boot or for your computer to function properly. You can run MSCONFIG through "run" or in Vista by doing a search for it and clicking on it.

3. http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Run this program to check for hard to detect spyware/virus. Spyware always slows a computer down big time. this program is free and has worked better than any other "pay" program I have ever used. I repair computers for a living and this is my new tool to automate some repairs.

4. Defrag your hard drive. This reorders files on your hard drive to make them easier for the computer to find them.

After doing the suggestions of 1-4, you will notice a considerable speed increase from your computer. If you want even more, reinstall your Operating System, which is something I suggest doing about once a year.

The optiplex 360 does come with internal speakers(it's in the spec sheet as optional), we bought them for our entire IT department and they worked fine on XP and vista, but when we put 7 on them, we can't get the internal speaker to work.

Installation issue - Not recognizing

hmm, no problem plugging in either side, just be sure to do the power cable first. What's doing the beep, beep?

Found a guy who had similar prob, here was his solution:
Go to Control Panel. Click on Device Manager.
Check to see if FreeAgent is shown as a disk drive.
If not, check the device list for any Free Agent device, double click and check driver. No driver installed? Update does not work? On the driver tab….click uninstall device.
Shut down computer. Unplug Free agent USB and power at the drive.
Reboot computer. As it is rebooting, plug in the power cord. Wait a minute or two….then plug in USB cord.

Windows will “found new device” ….. Just let the computer complete the reboot.
Then go to the device manager. Chances are you will find Free Agent in the drives….and in the USB list of devices. Open windows explorer….and you should see you Free Agent as a drive.
Windows will ask you to install manufacturer disk. You have no disk…non needed. Windows has installed the device. Just click on close. I you keep getting windows wants to install device…..ignore it. You can click on “don’t ask again”. (That is if your Free Agent drive is showing in the device manager as a disk…and in windows explorer….along with your other drive or drives.)
If at some later time….your Free Agent drive does not appear….repeat the steps as listed above.
(You may think it is not working….or that it has gone bad. Try this before you try to return.)
Seagate Tools…the new version….does not recognize to diagnose the Free Agent….
I have not tried Seagate Tools after getting the computer to recognize the drive.
I am surprised Seagate does not provide a Tool to recognize their own drives…and install and/or test Free Agent.

This does work for me with Vista. Thought I had lost the drive…. Seagate should provide a patch or a drive that Windows will recognize when you get the “found new hardware” and Windows asks you to insert manufacturer’s installation disk. I do not understand why that is not already there….a driver file for Free Agent...that Windows would install.

I did not buy Pro….because I did not need the backup software. I wonder if those who bought Pro are having these problems.

Can't open files copied to my Seagate Free Agent Go

Ok, install Office onto your laptop and see how it goes. Don't be too panic striken Microsft in general allow one copy of the same program to be running on a desktop and a laptop at the same time on the same license.
It's a home/work thing, Laptop goes to work, desktop stays at home and you can't be using them both right =)
