Everytime I connect to an unsecured wireless connection my laptop said WLAN connection failed
This many not help because we were trying to connect to our home network which is secure and it kept failing. We finally found if we went into the Manage Wireless Networks and double-clicked on the network name to bring up properties and then went to the security tab and found that the security type was set to open instead of shared. We set this to shared and then it worked. Check yours and if it is set to shared maybe you need to set it to open to get it to work with unsecure networks.

wireless networks.
6. If the wireless network is listed, the wireless adapter is
