Kodak Z740 camera sd card formatting problem

I bought a new 4Gb sd card for my Kodak Z740 Camera, but it won't format the card. The camera informed me that I needed to format the card. So I pressed continue, but after a few seconds the camera goes back to the screen that asks if I want to format it. I keep pressing continue but it keeps going back to that same screen.

Remove the card...turn on the camera and go into the menu...find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions. Then try to format the card again.

I have a Kodak Z740 easyshare camera that will not format a 4gb sdhc memory card but will format a 512 mb card why is this

The Z740 works with MMC and SD cards. While SDHC cards will fit into the slot, they are electronically incompatible and will not work with the Z740. You need to use SD cards, 2GB and smaller.

Kodak Z740, want to know if the 4GB SDHC card Class 2 will work in the camera...I've tried a 4GB SDHC Class 10 and it won't format, but would a Class 2 work instead?.

Class 10 just means it will read and write information much faster than a class 2 card. The real issue may be that your camera can't use SDHC cards. Check your manual to see if it will only accept SD cards.

I have a Kodak Z740 dig camera. Ive just bought a 4gb dane-elec sd HC chip but when I get the screen format I klick continue but the session stops. Any ideas or is the HC chip not compatible with this...

According to the manual the Z740 uses SD and MMC cards. That means that SDHC cards such as your 4GB card will not work with this camera. You are limited to SD cards up to 2GB in size.

Same as yours

The Z740 supports only MultiMediaCards & SD Memory Cards. 4GB and larger SD cards are usually SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) types - and bear the SDHC mark on the label. These cards are not compatible with this camera. Use only MMC and SD cards. SD cards are 2 GB and under - although *some* 4 GB cards are marked as SD too; these cards may or may not work. If you purchase a 4 GB SD (not SDHC) card, make sure that it can be returned if it doesn't work reliably in your camera.
