I have an Amana BRF20V1S refrig w/bottom freezer. I cannot put fruit or veggies in the bins as they will ALWAYS freeze. I have the fridge compartment at setting 1 right now, and it is still extremely cold in there. I have also put some foam under one of the bins to see if that helped, but it didn't. The fridge is only 8 years old. I've had it for 5 years, and it's always done this, I'm just feeling less tolerant these days! Thanks.

Good day,
Tricky problem.
The fresh food compartment gets it's cooling from the freezer.
When running zero degree air is blown up the back wall and out to the fresh food compartment thru a modulating thermostat.
This modulating tstat is continuously opening and closing .

I have seen many of these where the spring that tries to keep the flap on this device closed, has popped off.
If you can find the spring, it usually can be reinstalled, if not, you have to replace the whole control.

If that control is working O.K. another problem is at play.
During cooler weather, and light usage, the machine tends to stay off longer.
This causes the air in the machine to stratify. Warmer air rising, colder air falling. Thus, the warmer air reaches the modulator at the top of the machine, and throttles it wide open.
On the next running cycle, it allows a large volume of near zero degree air to enter the fresh food compartment.

Here are two possible solutions. The first cannot be verified.
A user claims that the return air vents behind the crispers got blocked by various items from food handling, and prevented the cold air at the bottom from returning to the freezer.
Your using a foam at the bottom would only make the matter worse.

The second option, would be to replace the modulating thermostat, and test for results. It's a pricey part.

Hopes this gets you some results..

The vegetable bin freezes, fruits and veggies, such as oranges. we have changed settings and nothing seems to work

It sounds like to me that you might be getting additional cold air from the freezer side. Several models have an adjustable vent that allows cold air from the freezer into the storage bin on the fridge side. Close that vent and that should solve the problem.

Bottom freezer model... the refrigeration veggie/fruit bins are freezing up?

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. Make sure this fan is running. You may have to hold the door switch in for it to run. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp.
The problem could be the electronic control if you have one or the mechanical linkages.

Refrigerator crisper drawers are freezing veggies

Shut the air flow into the crispers if you can. If not, turn the refrigerator temperature warmer by just a few degrees. The air into the fridge from the freezer is channeled into the crispers.

Kitchenaid superba refer side by side

its normal for the temperature to stay around 28 degrees farenheight int the bottom drawer. (fresh cut meat keeps better at his temp). you can adj the temp slide near the bottom of the refrig next to the botom drawer to help adj temp. veggies will almost always freeze in the bottom drawer. also adj the temp controls to a little bit warmer to help as well.

Keep in mind the mid point settings on your refrig is just a starting point for you to adj to where it works best for you and your usage..
