Not unusual. Contact them and tell them they got it wrong and you are sending it back at their expense. Ideally they should email drawings and a parts list on demand so you can quote the correct part number but if they refuse produce a line drawing of the part you need and include a couple of photos...

How to dispense water through door

if you hear a buzing sound when pushing the water dispenser, replace the water valve and be sure to defrost the fill tube at the ice maker. if no sound, you need to check for power at the water valve while pressing the dispenser. if power present, replace valve. no power, check the switch behind the dispenser arm.

Pfs22sisss the temperature control displays

Hello Rogerspray,

I understand that you are having a problem with your GE refrigerator the fan is not working and the power board is not working. The fan should always run when the compressor is on and sometimes when the compressor is off as it is to circulate the air.

You will need to replace the fan this can be removed and taken to any local hardware store and purchased as the are not expensive.

It sounds like you also need to replace your power board. I have located you one on Sears Parts DIrect it costs $91.33 and can be located at this link power board.

In-order to replace both of these items you will need to:
1. Turn off power
2. Remove cover panel
3. Disconnect quick connects
4. Remove item
5. Install new item
6. Replace wire to same terminals
7. Replace cover
8. Turn on unit and check

Replacing these items should take care of the problem that you are experiencing.

Thank you for choosing FixYa.com

Both refrigerator and freezer are

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

If the fans are running then there is usually power to the compressor providing that all the wiring is good.

The PTC and Overload Protection Assembly are most often the cause of this problem. Item 810 this link: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=5218255&diagram_id=26230025#d26230025

However.. the compressor itselfcan also be the problem if the rotor is locked. Look on the compressor label and you will see the letters LRA followed by a number usually 14.7 to 20 amps. That is the locked rotor amperage and if the unit is drawing this amount of amperage the compressor is not starting due to a locked rotor. If you have a locked rotor the only remedy is compressor replacement. There is a resistance test to see if the compressor is shorted internally. The PTC and Thermoal overload are removed from the compressor terminals and you red from pin C to the other 2 terminals and then to the case of the compressor. C to pins 1 (S) or 2 (R) must read resistance. If pins S or R read to the case then the compressor is shorted internally and must be replaced.
The run capacitor, Item 821 of the above link can also be the problem. The run capacitor should read resistance momentarily and then move to infinity each time the meter leads are reversed.

Check for signs of burned or very pot terminals on the PTC and thermal overload assy. It they ahve been hot.. repair the wriing and replace both the PTC / Thermal overload assembly AND the run capacitor provided the compressor passes the resistance checks. Any in home appliannce repair technician will do this in the process of troubleshooting.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

We have a 3-year old

The ventilations in the drawers are getting blocked.I will explain. When the unit starts, the freezer section starts cooling. When the freezer section gets cooled properly and reaches its regular temperature, then thermostat in the freezer section detects it and after this defrost procedure starts. In defrost procedure the fan in the freezer section starts running and the cool air from freezer section pass to the fridge section bu the ventilation drawers. And thus passes in all the sections. But in your case the cold air is passing to the vegetable and fruit section, but its not going to the other sections. The cold air is entering the section but its not going anywhere, just remaining there. So this parts are getting over cold.So in this case, either the defrost is not working or the coils are over frosted in the freezer section. And this causing the problem. But first try defrosting the blocked ventilation by manual defrost procedure.--------------

The defrost is not working or the evaporator coil in the inner section of freezer is got blocked by ice .

Try manual defrost reset procedure: ----

First unplug the unit from main power outlet. Then empty whole unit completely. Then keep both the doors open. Wait for 24 hours. All the ice collected on the coils and in the freezer section will get melted. Clean the water from the sections. Then Connect the power cord of the unit to main power outlet after 24 hours/.Then set the temperature to normal in both fridge and freezer section. It will take near to 4 hours to get run in its proper cooling cycle. Then check, if the problem returns again. If the same problem occurs then it's defrost problem. The defrost board and the defrost thermostat/heater is not functioning properly and it has to be checked and replaced. You can get the required parts from online sites like:--- www.repairclinic.com or from searspartsdirect online site.---------This will help. Thanks. Helpmech.

Cooling has stopped in the upper refrigerator

Since the freezer is working the duct can be blocked . So shut off the fridge and leave it off while you clean and check the evaporator for frost. If frost is seen it is a good indication as the compressor is working with sufficient gas within.
Now after about 6 hours plug in the fridge to start. Observe cooling to happen in about one hour and ice to from under three hours.
Earlier make sure that the thermostat was set to normal mode for freezer and fridge. However if Ice forms then observe the fridge for about 24 hours for cooling to continue and the fridge to cut off . If not the auto defrost timer, or the thermostat must be checked.
If defrost timer works but frost keeps forming check while the compressor shuts if the heaters are working, check continuity of the heaters.
So try this test from the outside and make your observations so that we come to the solution.
