It depends what you want to copy on DVD on to the video. If it's a commercial film, forget it! The machine/disc will have macrovision on it which will destroy any transfer to video. Otherwise there should be a button that says copy or dub that will let you record other types of DVD recordings to tape. But I can't understand why you would want to as the loss of quality would be bad.

Why won't the Sony controls let me click onto finalize using a Sony TV w/recoder to transfer VHS to DVD?

Is the VHS tape you are trying to record a commercial VHS tape (movie)? If so, it may have copy protection on it. The recorder is probably programmed to prevent you from making and using DVDs of commercial copy-protected VHS tapes.

Toshiba dvr19dtkb2 dvd wont play on computer after transfering form video casette

The proper codec may not be loaded on your computer. Find the format your DVD recorder uses, Google for a codec for that format. Find a player that supports the code, download and install it onto your computer and then try the DVD.

We have a SAMSUNGA LCD TV. We also have a

You indicated you have a DVD PLAYER, not DVD recorder. You cannot record on to a DVD on a player, you need to buy a DVD recorder/player. Unlike a VCR which stands for Video Cassett Recorder which can record and playback video. DVD recorder technolgy much more complicated.

Record onto DVD

No. This machine only plays DVDs. You would have to obtain an entirely different machine. One that is a DVD Recorder. This one is a DVD Player + Video Cassette Recorder

ERROR CODES E24 ~& E4 54037380 ON MY DVD RECORDER, CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHAT THESE MEAN, THANKS

If you are trying to record vhs tapes to the dvr side, first you need to get 1x up to 8x DVD-R dvds. You can find them on ebay. The machine has problems recognizing the up to 16x type. Put the blank DVD in and let it load. Then start playing (not dubbing but playing) the videotape for at least 6-8 seconds. If you have somewhat of a lead-in on the videotape you can let it go even 10 seconds. Only after the videotape has been playing for this period of time, press the dubbing button. If the error code does come up, rewind the tape and start again, but in most cases the error code will not happen if you do it like this.

Copying vhs to dvd using samsung vr357 ??

I do not think you would have to worry about a way to disable the copy protection that is on the vhs tapes. you are not going to record over them. You are just going to transfer information to the dvd side. jh
