How to adjust contrast on dell 610

From this web site:

How do I adjust my brightness or contrast on my laptop? Every laptop is different, so adjusting the brightness or contrast on your laptop may vary from the steps provided on this page. However, understanding the process of how to adjust the brightness or contrast will help you change your settings.
Most laptops adjust their brightness and other settings using the function key in conjunction with another key. For example, pressing and holding the function key (abbreviated as "Fn") and pressing the up or down arrow keys as shown in the picture below, increases and decreases the brightness.
laptop-brightness-keys.jpg
Other examples also shown in the above picture include pressing Fn and F1 and F2 or F7 and F8 to increase and decrease the brightness. If none of the above examples resemble your keyboard look for keys on the keyboard that have pictures of a sun or a half moon to identify the correct key to adjust the brightness.
How can I adjust the laptop contrast? Laptops only allow users to adjust the brightness of their screen. Contrast settings are not adjustable on a laptop display.
How do I save the new adjusted settings? After adjusting your laptops brightness it will retain the new settings.
Laptop brightness is still not enough or screen is black If after following the above steps your brightness is still not enough, plug your laptop into the wall to make sure it is not a power setting that is decreasing the brightness. If the laptop is plugged in but still is not bright enough, try the suggestions on the below link.

How can i turn down contrast on my laptop

Acer Aspire one

Brightness is controlled by the Fn and arrow keys.

Contrast can be controlled from the software.

FN key, + left/right arrow key's

other Acers

Log on to your Acer laptop and click on the "Start" button. Choose "Control Panel" from the menu.

Double-click on the "Display" icon in "Control Panel" and select the "Settings" tab.

Check the "Color Quality" settings and make sure they are set to either medium or high.

The high setting will give you better color quality and contrast, but it will also use more system resources and shorten battery life.

If you are operating on battery power you may want to move the setting to medium.

Hold down the "Fn" key and press the right arrow at the same time.

This key combination will increase the brightness of your screen.

To decrease the brightness and contrast, hold the "Fn" key down and press the left arrow. Continue using these key combinations until you have found the optimal setting for your laptop display.

hope this helps

I just had my Emachines D520 laptop display replaced because it was cracked. The new display is too bright, and the Fn keys that are supposed to control brightness don't work properly. When I use these...

Try going to control panel, then device manager, and try right clicking and updating all drivers that have to do with graphics or your screen. If this doesn't do the trick then try finding the display drivers manually.

Use FN F7 to increase brightness and FN F6 to decrease brightness!

If you have re installed the OS, you may be missing your function button drivers.
You can alter this thru display settings and power options (control panel)

Toshiba keyboard key explanation

fn stands for function, its usually a blue key on the lower left corner.

holding this will activate any key that has a secondary print on it, these are usually blue as well. so if theres a contrast looking icon or brightness- holding fn and then pressing that key will alter the settings.

How can I adjust the contrast on my laptop, I can't see very well

Hold the Fn key down, then press the Right Side Arrow key to increase brightness. (Bottom of keyboard, 5th key from the right)

Granted, that doesn't increase the contrast, it increases the Brightness.
Should the brightness not increase to a level that you feel is comfortable, then I suggest you have a Backlight, or Inverter going bad.

Screen display

It's hard to find a Compaq manual their site, but they indicate you'll find this in the help files on your computer.
This is usually done with a combination of keys-look for the Fn key and a key that looks like a sun symbol. It may have an arrow pointing up or down. Use these keys together to change the brightness.
