If the model number you have listed is correct, you turn the Child Lock feature on/off by pressing and holding the "Clear/Off" button for three seconds. The instructions are on page 28 of the Owner/Operator Manual.

I have a Ge model # jvm1540dn1bb above the range microwave. It stop responding to touch. It's not even a year old. No surge or outage happened, it just stopped. i unplugged it and replugged it and it is asking me now to set the clock. Problem is, it is not responding to any touch.

To turn off Demo Mode:

1. Press SETTINGS 12 times. "Demo Mode" and "ON. Press (1) to OFF" will appear in the display text area.

2. Press the "1" keypad to change the Demonstration Mode setting to Off.

3. "OFF Selected" will scroll in the text area. Demo Mode has been turned Off.

It looks like from the "Home" Screem press "Information Desk" then "Useful Information" then "Child Lock" then "Set The Lock"

Microwave comes on in cooking mode with the door closed when plugged in. The Clear/Off button does not turn off and we have to open the door to turn off.
I have a hunch the microwave panel is going into Child lock mode and preventing you from operating the clear/off function. Not sure which is the middle switch that you replaced. I would suggest you give the panel a good wipe with a clean damp cloth to remove all grime etc. Before selecting the start/pause button press the Clear/off button for 3 secs and see if the L (lock) shows up on the display. Next press again for 3 secs to see if L goes away.

This way you have confirmed the panel is not in lock mode before you start next operation. Provide your observations in the comments section so that I can assess what the next step should be.

The oven is in lock mode and will not change its mode. Unable to start oven the way it is. No manual available.
You don't seem to have specified the make and model number of your microwave oven. I'm at best guessing. Try pressing the Stop/Reset button repeatedly, until you see it unlock. If that doesn't work, try unplugging it, which might reset all the settings, or leave you equally bad off. I know how frustrating it is to have appliances mysteriously lock themselves. Good luck.

For a 1995 Sharp Carousel Convection Microwave oven Model # R-9H66 it has on display screen ''LOCK'' and will not allow any function, is there a solution? The light inside works when the door is opened...
Check the user book for the unlock code. This could be the child lock mode.

If one of the safety switches are defective, or if there is a sensed power supply fault, the uPC will put the oven in the lock mode for safety reasons.

Press: Function 0 2 to turn off demo mode. For future reference, Function 0 1 should turn demo mode back on.
