A backdoor trojan is a bad. They are a sort of virus with the capability of sending information back to the controller of it. It can be downloaded and can turn on without you knowing it and then it will follow whatever instructions it is given. The information it can send out is worse than any damage it does to your system. Passwords, bank info, credit card numbers. It can even email your contacts using your account.

System restore does record and copy these, and you need to turn system restore off during your scan and removal process. System restore does not allow virus software to remove these files.

First, update your virus program and then turn off your internet connection. Then turn off system restore by going to your control panel>System>and then click on the System restore tab, usually in the back. Close those windows and and start your virus scans. Follow the instructions after it locates the virus. If you have the option of deleting the virus, do that rather than put it in quarantine.

Since you have a program running that you don't even know about, it can certainly put a drag on your system and slow things down. Your Windows OS is so old, I can't believe it is still running. Congrats, everyone I know had a fatal crash by this time. If you need further help, please leave a comment. Thanks for your question.

A backdoor trojan is a hidden application that allows someone from the internet to take over your computer and do whatever he wants, like disseminating spam to multiple addresses, turn it into a "zombie" machine attacking other machines over the internet, spy on your habits, documents, passwords, credit card or bank details or whatever.
If you restart your computer, it will surely be there still, if it was before.
If you restore your computer (re-format your harddrive, reinstall Windows and other applications from trustworthy, original media), then it won't be there anymore most probably.

Backdoor trojans open ports on your computer, allowing attackers to execute malicious codes on your computer. Worst case senario, your Anti-virus along with other programs will not operate, and your computer could be used to attack others, an attack called Ddos (Distributed Denial-of-Service).
If a complete restoration of your computer is possible, then go for it. Else, re-format your computer and all should work out fine.

A backdoor trojan is a nasty piece of malware that let's the criminal into your computer whenever you're connected to the internet.

Restarting doesn't do a thing, and restoring only works if you're restoring from a backup that's not corrupted.

It _might_ be the reason you're running slowly, but there are hundreds of causes for Windows PCs running poorly.

Unfortunately, reinstalling Windows from scratch is sometimes the only solution. Malware writers are very good these days.

Not all "backdoor trojans" are trouble. Some legitimate software packages use them. A good anti-virus package will detect and delete it. I prefer Kaspersky and you can download it free for 30 days. If you're still running Windows 98 it will be running slow because of all the rubbish that will have built up over the years. Go into add/Remove programmes and weed out the rubbish, delete Fonts that you don't use and defragment the disk.

Torjan remove virus

Reboot your computer if you have a Mac. Do this by holding down the "Shift" key while the computer restarts itself.

Launch an antivirus program that you should have installed on your computer, such as Symantec's Norton or McAfee. Wait for the program's window to appear, then go to "Disk View." Highlight your computer, then select "Scan/Repair" so that the antivirus can detect the Trojan and trash it.

Exit the antivirus program on your Mac. Restart your computer again to ensure that the Trojan has been deleted. Empty the trash can on your computer once it is back up and running.

Disable the System Restore feature if you're a Windows user. Go to "Start" at the bottom of your screen, then right-click the "My Computer" icon to go to "Properties." Check "Turn off System Restore" under the System Restore tab in the "Properties" window, then select "Apply." Confirm that you want to disable System Restore by clicking "Yes" and "OK."

Update your virus definitions in your antivirus program. Open the program, or go to the website, to download the latest definitions so that you can receive the most recent alerts and keep your computer protected.
Scan your files to detect the Trojan file. Follow the instructions in your antivirus program to delete any suspicious files. You may want to write down the path and file name of the Trojan, which is usually found in the "C:\" hard drive. Then, edit your computer's backup registry by choosing "Start," then "Run." Type "regedit" in the window that appears and click "OK."

Search for the registry entry from which the Trojan derived, which may begin with "HKEY" followed by the file path. Delete the registry entry to ensure that the Trojan is removed. Exit the registry entry, and restart your computer so that the changes can take effect.
Hopefully, it may help to remove Trojan virus from your PC.

My AVG cant remove a Trojan horse -how can I get rid of it?

well be glad i saw your problem, coz we're gonna fix it for ya. Keep in mind you are going to have to install some new software and be patient, this will take a bit of your time.

Step 1.

a lot of people don't realize that over 90% of Trojans write themselves into your system restore function. So the first thing to do is disable your system restore.
To do this:
1. Right click on My Computer / properties
(this will open your system properties)

2.
Click on the System Restore Tab - now check the box beside "Turn off System Restore on all drives"
Press Apply then OK

3.
The Software you need to Download:
Go to www.filehippo.com
search for SpyBot Search & Destroy & Malwarebytes' anti-malware, Also Download CCleaner.
now download and install all programs.

4.
Now update all applications

5.
Now lets reboot into "Safe Mode"
For most computers Hit Start / turn off computer / restart - as soon as computer boots press F8 (you can check the safe mode boot up procedure, (Start/ Help & Support / search for safe mode)

6.
When the Safe Mode screen starts select "start in Safe Mode"

7.
When windows loads up completely hit Start then start spybot search & destroy and follow the directions to begin the scan. Do the same for Malwarebytes' anti-malware.

8.
Let the scanners run their course then remove anything that is found. SInce you are in safe mode it should remove everything with no problem.

9.
Now lets Reboot into Normal windows. Then lets run the CCleaner Program. The first Tab on the left reads "cleaner" and has a brush on it. Select that tab, on the bottom right click run cleaner.

10.
Now when that finishes select Registry Tab on the left. then select Scan for issues. When scan has finished select "fix selected issues" it will ask you if you want to backup Registry, say no, then press fix issues, then close. Run registry cleaner till nothing else shows up.

11.
You should be ready to go now, virus free. To make sure rerun all the scans we did previously. If their are some issues that could not be removed you will be notified (these are normally registry entries) you will then be asked if a scan can be performed at the next boot. Select yes on one or both of the programs ( spybot and antimalware's). then immediately reboot.

I hope this helps fix your issues. Please rate very helpful if this fixes your isues. ^_^ thank you

VIRUS : backdoor trojan

If you are saying that Norton cannot delete the virus, then you may need to take your computer in to a local computer repair shop.

If you are simply weary to delete the virus, I will quell your worry by saying; go ahead and delete the virus.

Okay my sony laptop windows vista crashed . it turns on but then it goes to a blue screen , i can get it to safe mode & i tryed disabling stuff but it like wont restart either , it goes from a blue screen...

Boot into safe mode by tapping the F8 key on startup, once you're in safe mode, run the system restore tool (usually in start -> program files -> accessories -> system tools -> system restore) to a few days earlier and restore. After that, install an Anti-virus application, such as AVG Anti-Virus, and scan your computer to remove the problems.

Hope this help!

Running very slow

you have a virus or a trojan, assuming you have an antivirus and antispyware programme update it and then restart pc and press F8 while booting it up., choose start windows in safe mode, then select admin account and right click on my computer>properties>system restore, tick TURN OFF System restore, then run your antivirus programmes.

when run, restart pc, then untick turn off system restore and the problem should be erased.

The only other possibility is low hard drive space and a need to install more memory
