Kenmore Elite 17262

Hi, can you help me? I have the dishwasher for about two years. It always worked great. We remodeled our kitchen and it was out of the kitchen for 3 months. We installed it again before christmas and it leaves the dishes dirty ever since. In all the glasses and cups is something like sand. We have tried everything - rinsing the dishwasher with vinegar, adjusting the amount of soap, cleaning the filter... Nothing worked, so we called the repair man, from Sears. He checked everything, water presure, the heating element ... and didn't find anything except couple pieces of food inside. We paid $90, that was yesterday, and today after washing nothing changed. I will propably have to call them again, they guarantee it for 90 days, but if they have no idea, than what is there to do? Any idea?
Thanks Margit

I have had my Kenmore for 6 months and there is gritty food left on everything. Also, anything that is bowl shaped or pans do not get clean on the bottom shelf. Even if I run the dishwasher right after they are soiled. They come out dirtier because now the food is baked on instead of being freash and easy to clean. I'm so made I spent so much money and I'm having problems just 6 months down the road.

My water is hot and I even used the pots and pans setting to no avail.

I have a Kenmore Elite with an apparent low water pressure problem. I have checked the spray arm, drain line, water level, water temperature, and even the chopper assembly without luck. All appears to be open and clear, but I am still having cleaning problems especially on the top shelf and in the soap dispenser. The appears to drain after washing and before rinsing. My next step will be to pull the pump off the bottom and check for a bloackage.

After our remodel (Nov. 08) the 1 year old K-Elite was re-installed. Ever since, the top rack items do not get clean - dishes, cups, etc. It is almost as if no water/soap even touches them. Sometimes they are damp after drying cycle but I'm fed up, have tried everything: vinegar, making sure water is hot all throughout the cycles, etc. Has anyone had success with the chopper fixing instrux?

I just took my Kenmore elite 17262 apart because it was not getting the top rack clean and the soap was not being used up- i.e. low water pressure. The short story - Misc. objects were clogging the screen/grinder, I cleaned out olive pits, a small plastic bag, pieces of plastic and masking tape (from labeled Tupperware) and stringy food, now it cleans much better. Getting to the grinder compartment was tough. A few tips: the top rack drawer slides come out after you remove the stops in front by pushing the buttons and pulling the stops toward the center of the machine. The tube at the back unclips from the ceiling and the back wall and tilts down as you slide the connection out from the supply tube at the bottom. Hold the spray arm and turn the plastic centerpiece clockwise to screw it down through the arm. Rotate the top manifold/supply pipe clockwise 1/8th turn to release; next you will need a small torx (star) driver to take out four screws holding in the screen/manifold. Note where the two nylon washers go on the pivot/axle for the arm. Under the screen/manifold is the grinder cover, remove one smaller torx screw and it will snap out (may be stuck in with accumulated goo). I used a shop vac to clean this area but sponges and tweezers would do, check for damage to the screen and blade. Inspect wash out and reassemble everything in order. The fine mesh screen pops off with a large screwdriver (careful cleaning the screen) Replace the two nylon washers under the pivot/axle and install the supply pipe manifold just before inserting the center pivot, if you put the pivot in first the manifold will not seat. A work light and small parts dish help. Use appropriate force on plastic parts and common sense. If you have hard water try the vinegar trick also (another post) or first. - good luck

There is a thing called a 'Chopper Assembly' inside the dishwasher which sits in front of the pump housing. It consists of a small aluminum screen and a set of rotating blades. This screen can clog up and/or the blades can become bent or broken from something hard falling in there like an olive pit. If the dishes aren't getting cleaned and the dishwasher is filling and draining ok, this may be where your problem is. The part is about $7 and can be installed from inside the wash basin without removing the pump. You should ask the repairman if he checked this part.

A telltale sign is that the dishwasher won't be as loud as it used to be because not as much water is being sprayed over the dishes (it's being blocked by the chopper filter).

It sounds like something has rusted in the supply line or pump housing of the dishwasher . Running it a couple of times without dishes in it should take care of the problem When you reinstalled the dishwasher was the water supply line copper For a dishwasher only 2 years old it is hard to believe that the roblem is with the dishwasher.

If the problem continues, remove the dishwasher, replace the line from the sin riser to the dishwasher
they make a flex line that is easy to install.

Before replacing the line, pull the dishwasher out (always turn off power to dishwasher and shut off water) remove the line wher it goes into the diawasher use adjustable wrench to loosten nut

once disconnected, get a galon mop bucket put the supply line into buck and slowly turn water on under sink and fill bucket
observe the water in bucket to see if you get any debris
If so replace the supply line

While you are at it inspect the drain line from the dishwasher could be debris in it

Best of Luck BE SAFE!

Kenmore Elite: Model 66576962K601.

I had exact same issue. I've called Sears Maintenance. They had to change 2 pieces in UI: Timer KUDS02SRB10 and CONSOLE Assy. Cost 360$ pieces 130$ Job Charge 60$ taxes.
Now It works perfectly, but I bought 1100$ 3 years ago... Really expensive to keep it running.

Kenmore elite dishwasher

I had the same problem when I bought it and it just happened again; the problem is solved by ressting the control panel: Hi Temp ---> Heated Dry two or three times. It kind of goes into a testing cycle and the clean blinking light goes off.
