Have hooked up HP Pavivillion PC with HDMI cable; get no audio, picture is fine. How do I get the audio to the TV??The TV is a new Insignia NS-L37Q-10A.

I figured it out! Plug in the HDMI to the TV and set the TV to HDMI input. Go to the Vista Contol panel on the PC, to Hardware & Sounds / Sound.
The control panel will show the computer speakers as the default hardware. Highlight HDMI, click the Default button! That's it: obvious when I realized "default" was not "return to default settings", but setting the default device. Duh... always simple once you see it.

Xbox elite connected to TV thru HDMI works fine, but connected via bcs-fs500 receiver = no audio or video Cable tv through receiver works fine Have tried cable tv through receiver inputs HDMI 1 and 2...

Hook your Xbox to tv via HDMI, then hook TV to reciever through digital optical or composite cables. If you try to get your picture through receiver first, you may get picture and sound but, sound may be delayed and picture might not be the best. Bettter to run through tv first then provide sound to receiver.

Sound only works with HD, not SD

Check the setup menus of the Insignia TV, as most sets have an advanced setting hidden deep in the setup menu to use the HDMI cable for sound - OR- use component RCA inputs for sound. My Philips TV has this.

It's odd that this only shows up for SD content...I would see if there is a firmware update available for that from the manufacturer. The one thing that you see lots of firmware fixes for are HDMI issues.

NO SOUND WHEN USING HDMI FROM PC TO HDTV (RUNNING VISTA)

When using an HDMI to DVI cable their is no audio that comes through that cable. Even if you use HDMI to HDMI most computers only have video output from HDMI. You will have to use a seperate audio cable for you to be able to get the sound to work. Depending on the output you have on your laptop you may have to resort to hooking up a pair of speakers to the headphone jack.

Hope this helps.

Toshiba 32AV500U HDMI issues

The Toshiba 32AV500U cannot display 1080p. Hook up your PS3 to your computer monitor, provided that it can display 1080p, or some other TV that can, then change your Video Output settings under Settings> Display Settings and uncheck 1080p, which will allow the PS3 to display in 1080i. Once you do that, then hook up the Toshiba via HDMI and it will work with no problem.

No Non-Hd sound

I had the exact same problem on a brand new Insignia 26 " LCD with DVD. Comcast tech was able to fix it by changing the Comcast box diagnostics. Here is what he did. Using the Comcast remote with the TV on - press power, cable, menu in that order. A comcast diagnostic srceen will appear. Select Additional HDMI options, then audio options. Change the audio options to L-PCM. Press power again to exit the diagnostics. That will fix it and you get to use the HDMI cable.
