This is something to do with the ink tank follow the stteps snd that should work: good luck

Reseat both cartridges in the printer and unplug the power cable for 30 seconds.
Plug the power cable back in.
If the error message is now cleared from the printer, please perform the hardware test to ensure the printer is in working order.

Carrier Stall is the error

Hi,
Please do the following..

To check the cartridge carrier:
  1. Unplug the printer.
  2. Move the cartridges to the left by hand and then take them out.
  3. Try to print without the cartridges in the carrier. Do you still receive a Carrier Stall error message?
  4. If not, put the cartridges back into the carrier and snap them in at the back. The message should no longer appear.
If the power light on the printer is not blinking, the error message may be caused by a communication error. Do the following:
  1. Remove any other devices attached to the USB/LPT port.
  2. Uninstall the Lexmark printer.
  3. Connect the printer directly to the PC and ensure that power is being supplied to the printer.
  4. Reinstall the printer.

No printing

  1. Snap the cartridges in and out of the printer a couple of times.
  2. Clean the copper contacts with a dry cloth.
If this did not work then you need to give for service shop ,if they charge more than $50, you can buy new printer for the same charge..

Lexmark x83 carrier stall

Printer problem

Hi I went to lexmark.com and they told me to unplug usb and power cord. wait 30 seconds. replug, press menu button until manitenance shows up and select. go to self test, select. it should print something. if not take out cartridges and redo steps. it did work for me

Will not print

Go to print. Prinrt comand comes up just fine. Press ok and nothing. Document pending is all I get. Printer seems to be ready but goes into power save waiting for next comand,

Printer does not connest to pc

I think "Cartridge short" is refering to a short circuit to the ink cartridges, remove them and clean the contacts, and try again, if this persists try replacing the cartridges
