Kenmore 31913 Progressive Direct Drive Bagged Upright Vacuum Logo
Anonymous Posted on Nov 05, 2009

Which Kenmore vacuum cleaners are made by Panasonic? Are all of their direct drive machines made by Panasonic? We have a blue Hoover Windtunnel with the dirt sensor. It cleans well, but it is unbelievably noisy. I wondered if something was out of place and the brushes were hitting, but everything looks normal. We bought Kenmore models 36722 and 36724 and love them. I believe they were made by Panasonic. Our Kirby sits in the basement. Much heavier. These are quiet and clean well. I would like another, but not sure what the recent/current Kenmore models by Panasonic are. Do you?

Some Kenmore vacuums are made by Panasonic, some are made by Hoover or Eureka or even Sebo. I would go to a Panasonic dealer for that kind of machine instead of trying to go by the Kenmore brand. Sears has a hard time with service. A good Vacuum Cleaner Dealer that carries Panasonic wouldn't steer you wrong and take good care of you after the sale.

Self propel unit broken

This is a farily common repair on this model. What ends up happening is that when someone picks up the vacuum cleaner2_bing.gif by the handle of the machine, which on this model also is the controller for the self-propelled transmission, it places too much strain on the actuator arm of the vacuum2_bing.gif cleaner.

You can do the best to try and not pick up the machine by the handle, but instead using the carrying handle on the back of the vacuum cleaner, this is distribute the weight much better, and even make the machine seem less heavy, and this will also prevent the actuator arm from breaking again in the future.

Now for fixing your vacuum, Please click the link below for an excellent tutorial on how to replace this part;

The Hoover Windtunnel vacum will not pull suction

Either the machine or hose is blocked OR the filters are blocked.
Also possible that the belt is broken.
