We had a power failure and after power was restored my Samsung SyncMaster 931BF would not display anything from the computer. I turned the power off to the monitor and then back on several times. I checked all connections and nothing was loose. When I turn the monitor on, the blue light near the power switch blinks off and on and hums slightly, indicating there is no signal even though the desktop will flicker on and display for about one-tenth of a second. When another monitor is connected to the PC, everything works and displays fine. Is the monitor shot, or is there a reset button somewhere that I am not locating?

I think it might be the Caps in the power supply. If you can open the unit up, find the power supply. See if there any caps are bulging on the top. If they are they need to be replaced. There maybe as many as 4 to 6 caps you need to replace, If the caps are 16v replace with 25v, If they are 25v replace with 35v. This is because some of these caps in power supplies are under rated. Always use the same mfd's that is on the old cap.Make sure you do not put them in backwards. They do have a + and a - . This is all being said assuming you know a little about electronics and good with a soldering iron. Hopes this is helpful.

How to open case/shell of Samsung SynMaster 931BF???

You remove all the screws, stand, then useing the thin flat blade screw driver to crack open the case, starting at the bottom edge and work your way around, it is hard to tell you in words. Try Youtube also.

I have a Samsung SyncMaster 931BF. I love the screen, but for quite awhile, the screen has been having a hard time coming on and staying on. I'll have to cycle the power multiple times to get the screen...

Remove its stand
Unscrew all the screws in the back.
It doesnt just lift off I guess you could say, there are many clamps around the edge that need to be "popped" by sliding anything thin enough to get between the front and back of the case to pop them.

I popped mine open the other night. The clamps appear to be hard to break, at least in my circumstance. None of them broke with a fair amount of pressure from pulling being applied.

Also, mine had your exact same issue until one day it no longer turned on completely. It just flashed the screen once and showed a flashing power light around the button. Replacing 3 capacitors that were just barely bulging on the top fixed the issue.

Hooked Samsung SyncMaster 931BF monitor to laptop and the letters on the screen are choppy. I can play with the settings on the monitor but can't get the letters to line up straight.

This looks like a driver/resolution problem. Which laptop are you using? New laptops shouldn't give you any hassles, but older models don't always have the graphics cards to support all monitor sizes.

Make sure your monitor driver is installed on the laptop and that you have the latest graphics drivers installed for your laptop.

You can download the screen driver here: http://driverzone.com/device.php?id=55741

Then check that the resolution for your monitor is set correctly on your laptop under display properties. The native resolution for the screen is 1280x1024.

Hope this helps,

Vertical and horizontal not displaying property and shadows in picture.and do not know how to work the adjustment

I fixed the adjustmen.ts by trial and error of monkeying around on monitor adjustments(no manual to work with). In the morning the shadowing was gone..think it is from over heated graphics cards.
