Printer aio 926 communication error

I have Windows XP and a Dell AIO 926 printer. I suddenly became unable to print as I received a "Communication not available" error every time I try to print. I've deleted the printer, used the Dell patch to clean up prior installations, downloaded the latest drivers from Dell, etc. and nothing is working. Please help!

    John-
You posted a solution to my Dell 926 communication problem on Monday, Oct 19. I just followed your suggestions but the problem is not solved. I am running Windows XP, not Vista. This is very frustrating and I appreciate your assistance and suggestions.
    Thank you!

Hi aweintra,

you can do the following steps:

1.Check if the firewall is blocking any printer services

2.Check what port the printer is using (reenable the bi-directional support) and if it's on online mode

3.Disable all the firewalls

4.Uninstall the printer driver and software, then unplug the usb cable of the printer.

6.Delete any non default items under the ff keys:
Note: ONLY THE NON DEFAULT ITEMS SHOULD BE DELETED

I'm tryin g to scan a photo with my Dell AIO 926 Printer, connected to my Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. But the laptop doesnt seem to be bringing up the AIO 926 printer file folder/menu, and when I request...

Did you figure this out? You should have a "Dell All-In-One Center" that was installed with the drivers for the printer. Try searching for it by pasting that phrase in the box in your "Start" button. When you locate it, drag the shortcut to your desktop or up in the top of the programs in the Start location. When you click on the Dell All-In-One Center icon, you should find some options for scanning.

Printer status window interface stopped working dell AIO 926

I know this sounds too simple, but get a new USB cord. I had the exact same problem and it was driving me crazy. I followed all the advice about uninstalling, reinstalling and updating multiple times and it never fixed the problem. Finally, my husband made the simple suggestion that maybe it was a problem with the connectivity of the USB cord. I didn't have much faith in it, but I bought a new USB cord and hooked it up - and I have never had a problem with the printer since then. My original USB cord (the one replaced) was the one that came with the Dell printer - perhaps there is a flaw in the cord somewhere. ?
