How do I set timer on olympus sp-56ouz

Press cursor-down (marked with a one-handed clock). Select Off, 2-second, or 12-second as desired. Start the self-timer by pressing the shutter release button.

It's described in the "Self-timer shooting" section of the manual (page 20 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can get one from the manufacturer at

When i push the button to take a picture, the camera delays for about 3 or 4 seconds before it actually take the pic. Why does it delay?

Hi,

There could be several problems like:

1)The focus.
2)Self timer set to 2sec or 10sec.
3)very slow shutter speed set.
Make it as a 10 or 20 second delay on the self timer .Your problem here could be that the settings are not right. Go to the menus and reset all to original or default. Then set menus the way you like. You may have a slow memory card, try changing to a faster card, and test it.

Thank you!

How do I use self-timer

Press the Shooting Mode button (just to the left of the viewfinder, marked with overlapping rectangles) and rotate the command dial until the self-timer icon (sort of like a one-handed clock) is displayed in the control panel.

Frame the photograph and focus.

For best results, cover the viewfinder.

Press the shutter release button all the way down to start the self-timer.

You can cancel the self-timer by selecting another shooting mode, or by turning off the camera.

Custom Settings #24 lets you change the delay to 2, 5, 10, or 20 seconds.

I need help with setting the self timer on the Olympus Camedia c-700 camera. Can't figure how to do it with the menu. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

the self timer usually works like this.
find the self timer setting and set it to 5 or 10 seconds.
then exit the menu and click the button that you normally press to take photo. the self timer will start automatically and the picture will be taken after 5 or 10 seconds (depending on what you set).
note that the self timer will be reset to off after this.

Does camera have timer

Putting Yourself in the Picture The Self Timer creates a 10-second delay between the time you press the Shutter button and the time the picture is taken. 1 Place the camera on a flat surface or use a tripod. 2 In any Still mode, press the Self Timer button. The Self Timer icon appears in the status area. 3 Compose the scene. Then press the Shutter button half-way and hold to set the exposure and focus, then press the rest of the way down. Move so that you are in the scene. The Self Timer light blinks slowly for 8 seconds (then quickly for 2 seconds) before the picture is taken. The camera "clicks" when the picture is captured. To turn off the shutter sound, see page 64. The Self Timer turns off after you take the picture or if you change modes. To cancel the Self Timer before the picture is taken, press the Self Timer button. (The Self Timer setting remains active.) To turn off the Self Timer, press the Self Timer button twice.
