Remove the bottom access plate. Reach inside and find the spring and re-attach it. If the spring is broken buy a replacement spring. There should be 2 springs, one on each side.

How do I fix a door that wont stay closed?

The spring probably broke in the latch, or the door balance springs are slack. You have to pull it out and removed the side panels. The latch literally just holds it in place. You should be able to tell if the springs are holding the weight of the door though. Then split the door to inspect the latch.

Falls open when? This unit wom't operate unless the door is secure so I assume you mean the door assist springs are disconnected or broken and the door just falls heavily to the open position after you unlatch it from the closed position. Try these, part 18 here

should attach to frame in an easy to distinguish hole or slot and to door hinges, number 2 here

my friend had the same problem and yes that is what we did. It took a wile to set it evenly. Wouldn't think it would take long but it did. We inadvertently set them to tight and door wouldn't close it would reverse on itself because of the added tension. In the end we did get it though.

Door feels very heavy and falls open when not latched.

There are two springs attached to the door under the machine. They are attached to arms that extend down from the door frame. Turn off the electricity, remove the bottom inspection panel, in the toe kick area, and the lower decorative panel. Probably two phillips head screws in the toe kick panel and one at each top corner of the lower decorative panel. Remove all four. The broken spring is probably lying right in front. Take note as to the way the good one is attached. The manufacturer will have a replacement available, but the local hardware may be faster. Take the spring with you for a match. I would buy two if they have a close match and replace both. Don't buy a longer spring it will just fall off. Yes, a knowledgable handy woman can do this. I'm here on and off until 9 pm est if you need advice.

The oven door won't close properly, it just hangs slackly about 2 cm from the seal. it's a smeg wall oven.

the clips on these oven are canyilver type they can move out of position if opened abruptly .to refit correctly lift door upwards while pushing the bottom of the door inwards.you should feeel a strong resistance from the door springs.there should be a notch n the bottom of the hinge this should slot over the oven frame.if this does not solve the problem then the springs have probably gone on the hinges and will need to replace both hinge assemblies

I recently had the same problem. One of the cords that attaches the door to a spring had snapped. I purchased cord replacments at the following URL and completed the repair myself. http://www.repairclinic.com/SmartSearch/SSPartDetail.aspx?PartID=1059756&PPStack=1
