Check to be sure the monitor cable is seated properly on the computer and the monitor. If still no input, try a different monitor (borrow one from a friend, family, or another computer). If another monitor works, your monitor was bad.

Motherboard probably has bad capacitors. You should inspect the board for bulging or leaky capacitors.

You can put up to a Phenom X4 995, but you'll probably need a better power supply if you still have the one that came from the manufacturer.

your model 1630 is listed as with AMD Phenom ii processor and DDR3 memory on asus web site. if thats true (you typed its Athlon?) then it should be AM3 socket.

Take the sides off, lift the securing tabs and press the face forward from the metal frame until it pops out.

May mean its hibernating or sleeping if you have not completely shut the desktop Dow. If you move the mouse, press any key on key board and computer comes to life, then that is the reason.

Go here: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us

From there, select Desktop PC where it says Select Product. Under Select Series, set that to Consumer, then under Select Model, set that to CM1630. It will ask you for the version of your Operating System. If you don't know it, click on Start, right-click on Computer, then select Properties. Your Operating System version will be set in there (Windows XP, Vista, 7, Etc.)

Once you know your Operating System, select it in the drop down box. The manual will be listed under one of the appropriate category on the next page.

Base on the specification of the Asus Essentio CM1630, it doesn't have a built-in speaker for multimedia listening.

Mostly, built-in speakers that came with the computer are only for knowing the beep codes of your motherboard. To know if is it starting up or there are errors on your computer.

I would suggest getting a pair of speaker to easily resolve this issue.

You can also try to connect an earphone or headset to try if there is any problem with the sound card of your computer. Just connect any earphone or headset that you might have and see if you can hear any sound.
