You can see the detail of the pictures and literature, but the screen itself is dark (Like when it goes idle) Every so often it will come back with full view and lighting, but seems to always return back to dim lighting. It does not matter if its well charged, or not. Never exposed to water and nothing to that seems to trigger the onset that I've noticed. Ive tried resetting it, but receive the same result everytime. No change. HELP

sounds like it needs to be recharged. plug it into the wall charger or your computer and do not disconnect until it tells you that the charge is complete... this takes time and disconnect it from the computer by dismounting it before disconnecting so not to cause problems

Follow the 2 steps I follow all the time, retry, and restore your ipod. My itouch's screen was also really dim but when i restored it, it turned bright.

Try going to your ipod's settings, then into "contrast". There, adjust the contrast and raise the contrast percentage.

i would suggest reseting it hold the power and the home button at the same time for at least 10 sec or until the ipod resets you should then see an apple logo. reseting your ipod touch will not erase anything.
