Some keys won't work; delete, tab, spacebar, pg down, pg left (but pg up and right work) my external keyboard works fine. Help?

I don't quite understand why this would happen after pluggin in a USB mouse - but I've seen it numerous times after a liquid has been spilled on a keyboard.

Sounds like you need to replace the keyboard. Best way to test this is to plug in an external usb keyboard and see if you can type normally on it.

If the laptop keyboard exhibits this behavior, and the external keyboard doesn't - you should replace the laptop keyboard.

To clear margins, you have to hit the return button to find the left margin, then hit margin release and back space to move the margin left or spacebar to move to the right, then hit left margin button to set the new position. Right margin now. Hold spacebar down and find right margin position, hit margin rease and either spacebar to the right or backspace to the left to the new margin position then hit right margin button to set the new position. Tabs now. hit the tab key, when it goes to the first set tab, hit the tab clear key, then hit the tab key again, then tab clear again etc.

The keyboard is retiring. The keyboards are not terribly expensive. You can obtain one from your local agent and replace it or have it replaced by them

If you take all those tiny screws out of the bottom of the keyboard you'll see a circuitboard with three copper "design" spots(usually 3) under the spacebar..........the ones NOT in the center of the spacebar are dirty. You could use some alcohol or acetone to clean the outside "designs".....(warning) Acetone will damage plastic!!!!!!!!
there are a lot of rubber caps that WILL fall out of place when you turn it over) (the actual keys could fall out too) (Be careful when you take off the bottom of the keyboard!!!!) Clean the ones that align with the SPACEBAR!!!! Dont touch or clean anything else that wasn't working....... Gently place the bottom back on and screw down the bottom cover with a cross pattern.....(left>right...top>bottom).....If this dosn't work....the best part is that a new keyboard........is fairly cheap....mtg

Try reseating the cable that connects the keyboard first.

If that doesnt help there may be liquid around the connector and it needs to be cleaned off to keep the circuit from shorting out. You will need to find someone with the appropriate chemicals and may have to take the laptop further apart to clean it all up.

This is why when anyone gets a liquid spill i recommend getting it torn down right away and cleaned up, as it can damage things you cant even see. If the liquid has been in there too long it may not be repairable.
