Your absolute best bet is to re-install the system operation system.OS 10.5 is your brts bet. then follow the instructions and answer all of the needed information. Because I live alone and my computer is never out of my personal living area, I never instal a password. But this is your choice also.

Wont read/write hard drive

use Apple Hardware Test to diagnose the error::
1 Disconnect all external devices from your computer except the power adapter.
If you have an Ethernet cable connected, disconnect it.
2 Insert the Mac OS X Install Disc 1 that came with your computer.
3 Restart your computer and hold down the Option key as it starts up. A list of available
startup volumes appears. Click Apple Hardware Test and click the right arrow.
4 When the Apple Hardware Test main screen appears after about 45 seconds, follow the
onscreen instructions.
5 If Apple Hardware Test detects a problem, it displays an error code. Make a note of the
error code before pursuing support options. If Apple Hardware Test does not detect a
hardware failure, the problem may be software related.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

White screen and small question mark inside a folder

This means that the operating system cannot find the file system. Generally this is a sign that the hard drive has failed. The first thing I would try would be to boot from the OS X install disc and see if it can locate the drive to reinstall the operating system. If it can, you may be able to fix it that way. If it can't, likely the drive has failed and needs to be replaced. FYI if the drive is 'almost' failed, I have had success with taking it out and putting it in the freezer for a few hours, then back into the computer. It may work for long enough to allow you to back up anything you are missing.

How do i factory reset a powerbook g4 so it has no password blocking it.or how do i get into the computer.

Are you asking how to unlock a computer that is password protected without the password? You cannot do this, that is the whole point of security. You could manually wipe the entire hard drive using another device, then reinstall the OS on it from another Mac, but then all the data would likely be lost.
