A white or clear lithium grease. Do not cake it on but enough to get into all of the cogs/worm gears.

SOURCE: Disassembling the gearbox on Kenwood mixer A707

If the belt wheel is pressed onto a spindle, you need a gear puller. Do you have any pictures of this? I am trying to visualize the problem.

SOURCE: greasing a mixer

The thing was built with 6 oz. of Shell grease, so it should never need grease unless it is taken apart and rebuilt due to some other problem. Food-grade grease is the wrong material. The gearcase is sealed and should not leak.

SOURCE: Need oil/grease for Hobart 20 qt. mixer

Hi. Your A200 is in need of service. The grease's lifespan has expired. There are two ways of doing this. First, the expensive way. Call for a Hobart Tech to come and service the mixer. This will take about 4-5hrs to service at a rate around $100.00usd per hour, plus the cost of parts. He/she will need to change all seals, remove old grease and oil, check all bearings and gears for excessive wear and replace as necessary, this includes the planetary gear.

Now for the affordable solution. Unplug the mixer, remove the top cover. Gently use a small screwdriver to pry off the two circular metal dust caps found on the transmission housing, use a good flashlight to determine, through these openings, the quality, quantity and condition of the grease inside the transmission case. If there's a lot of oil you can remove much of it a bit at a time by using a wire coat hanger to which you can attach bits of cloth to absorb as much oil as you can. Once oil is removed, add new grease through these same holes until full (Chevron FM ALC EP-2, food grade lube). Run the mixer for a couple of minutes to distribute the new grease. Fill to the top once again and replace dust covers. Remove planetary, clean, inspect change seal and re-grease.

OPTION (mechanically challenging) You can do a more thorough job by removing the trans. cover completely, removing the 3 gear shafts inspect all bearings and gears, change seals on mainshaft and planetary. Remove old grease and oil, clean gearshafts and gears. Parts drawings are available from www.hobartservice.com It's free to register and then locate your parts drawings. Be sure that you have the correct files for your Model #, ML# if there is one and Spec.#, all found on the info plate.

When disassembling, take a digital photo of every step and lay the removed components on a piece of cardboard in the removed sequence. These practices will become valuable during re-assembly.

SOURCE: Oil leak

instead of putting a gasket on tell him to take out all of the old grease out that is what has broken down and turning into oil causing a leak and if he can repace the seal around the agitator shaft replace the old grease with a high temp bearing grease or a good quality lithium grease

How do you grease gearbox? I noticed a 1/8th inch hole next to driveshaft. Do you add grease there?

You need to supply brand and model. Normally greasing is done with the gear cases opened apart. If it is leaking grease/oil then it means the grease has gone old, you remove all the old stuff and put in some new stuff. It is a messy job. Over time grease breaks down and the oil component separates out from the solids.

Lubricating oil for kenwood a701a

They are lubricated with food grade grease, not oil. Any oil dripping out is coming out of the grease as the grease gets older and starts separating liquids from solids.

I dont know what else to add other then the oil came out of the mixer when i moved and i do not know what type of oil to put back in it and where do i put it in to the mixer on my kitchen aid mixer

Wipe the oil off and carry on. Over time the gearbox grease breaks down and oil separates from the grease solids. Eventually the gearbox will need to be repacked with new grease. Don't worry about a drip or two in a cake, it's food grade grease so harmless.

I have moved not to long ago and are kitchen aid mixer was in a box and laying on its side and there was oil all over the inside the box was soaked in oil . how do i check the oil level and what type of...

Wipe the oil up and use it. The machine has no oil in it, the grease is degrading and the oil is coming from there. It will be fine, next time it needs work done on it have them change the grease in the gearbox.

Hobart meat grinder, model 4322 asking what type of oil in gearbox to use?

You can buy food grade grease from kitchenaid or on amazon. I did use the grease from my work. Any grease would do the job just make sure you read the specifications to find the grease that can stand high heat so it doesn't melt while the machine is running.

OIL IS LEAKING OUT OF THE HEAD INTO FOOD BOWL. KITCHENAID SAID OK, FOOD GRADE OIL! I DON'T LIKE BLACK OILY CAKE OR COOKIES? CAN YOU HELP US TO FIX OURSELVES.

Kitchenaid says to run the machine on 'high' long enough to heat the gearbox well and then turn the machine upside down and let it cool.

What happens is when you don't use your mixer a lot the grease in the gearbox will separate into oil and thicker grease. Warming it and turning it upside down is supposed to mix all the grease together again and allow it to flow to the top of the gearbox.

Give it a try, check back if you get no satisfaction and we'll get you started on changing your grease.
