  • mule_skinner Mar 08, 2008

Are you serious?

In case you are serious, IR=infrared.

When you point your TVs remote control toward the TV and press a button, it is the IR receiver on the TV which receives the IR signal which is transmitted from the IR LED (Light Emitting Diode), which is the small bulb like part, on the front end of your remote control.

Any device using a IR remote control, must have an IR receiver to gather the siganl being transmitted. The IR siganl is a coded message of instructions for the device.

I have a Sony FM Stereo/FM-AM Receiver model STR-DE325 that will not respond to volume up or down on the remote control. All of the other buttons on the remote work as they should and all functions of the...

No, I don't think there is a motor that is supposed to turn the volume - I think the volume is a push button type with one button to increase and another for down that is pushed by a clever rotary mechanism or if it isn't exactly like that the principle is probably a similar use of pure electronics.

It is clear the link between the infrared receiver and decoder and the volume electronics is broken and it will probably need a service engineer to discover where and effect a repair.

Remote control stopped working changed batteries and still not working

Here are a few suggestions to help you with this problem:
It is possible that the battery contacts are corroded so you might try expecting the contacts and cleaning them. Since you cannot see if the IR signal is being sent, you can use another IR remote that you know works and see if you can Jam the signal of the working remote with your Hql-260wr remote. To do this, push the volume up button on the TV remote and hold it down while at the same time using the known working remote to control its companion product. If the working unit stops responding correctly when the volume button is pressed, it is transmitting an IR signal.

In this case, since you confirmed that the remote is transmitting, you can make sure that you are on the correct device settings for the remote. If you select the TV setting for instance, see if the remote now can control the TV. The main functions to try first are volume and channel buttons.

If this does not work, you will need to find out where the IR receiver is on the TV and make sure that the receiver lens is not blocked by something such as another device like a video console, etc.

How do I reset my remote for my Yamaha natural sound AV receiver RX V 371 the remote just stopped working one day it has fresh batteries still no response between receiver and remotethough the light is...

By your description of "light is flashing on the remote" I will assume the "function" LED on the actual remote, as the infrared (IR) LED light spectrum used to communicate with the receiver is invisible to the human eye. Let's try "simple" first. Is there something blocking the IR pickup device on the front of the RX-V371 receiver? It may be difficult to locate the pickup window and-so make sure the entire front of receiver is unobstructed. Also, IR remotes are a "line-of-sight" type device and must have an unobstructed view of the device being controlled.

Cannot control receiver from remote

Does the power button on either remote work? If nothing works, we'll try to see if your remotes are actually functioning.

Get some electronic device which can view a live image on a screen. A cell phone camera, digital camera, digital video camera, and (I think) even a web-cam will work. If you're using a digital (still) camera, you don't need to take a picture as long as you see a live image on the screen. Take your remotes and find the LED on the front end. There may be one or two. (If there's two, one actually isn't an LED, but that's not too important.) Point the front of the remote at the camera (LED's facing the camera), and press buttons. You should see the LED's light up in the live image. While these LED's normally produce light which the human eye can't see, digital image sensors can, and they change this invisible light to light we can see, on the screen. (Cool right?) So, if your remotes are working then you'll see the LED light up on the display. (To make sure your camera is actually working as I am suggesting here, find a remote which you know does work and try it.)

If the LED's are not lighting up, (and you've verified that your live digital video device can "see" these type of LED's), then your remotes are dead. Yes, it's unlikely that both your original and universal remotes are both dead - but it's possible. If the LED's are lighting up then you have one of two problems. One: the remote is not correctly paired with your system, and two: the IR receiver in your system is pooched. Let's look at the fixes for these.

Not correctly paired. Your universal remote has some sort of programming or learning function. Try programming it again, or programming it to a slightly different model of receiver and see if it works. If you've "learned" it from your original remote and it's not working, then maybe your original remote isn't paired correctly with your unit. If this is the case, contact either the place you bought it, or the manufacturer and tell them what's happened. You can't change how the original remote "talks" to your system.

The IR receiver in your system is pooched. Contact the place you purchased the unit, or the manufacturer, and have SA-HT930 system serviced. If you're handy with electronics you might get lucky and find something burnt out inside, but in my experience this will be %0.25 successful. If the rest of your system works perfectly, I wouldn't crack open the case - it's not worth your time.

The number 2 remote control do not work the remote

ramoshummer,

I would need more information to provide you a specific resolution, but below I have included basic steps to programming your remote to both your TV and your DISH Network receiver.

Link for codes if needed: http://www.dishnetwork.com/SupportSection/remote-setup

Addressing Remote to TV:

1.) Press and hold the clear TV button until all mode lights light up.
2.) Release and TV light will be blinking.
3.) Enter code and press #. The TV button should flash 3 times.
4.) Try functions (Volume, Power, etc..) and see if working.
5.) If no function, repeat steps 1-4 with another code.

Addressing Remote to Receiver:

1.) Go to System Info screen.
2.) Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
3.) Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
4.) Press the pound (#) button.
5.) Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record.
6.) Test remote and see if works.

If those don't solve your problem or you're experiencing a different issue let me know here or at [email protected] and I will check it out!

Remote control stopped working.

Hi forlillis,

1. Make sure there are fresh batteries in the remote, and they are installed correctly.
2. Make sure the area between the remote control and receiver is not blocked by some object,
and the distance is no more than 15 feet at an angle no greater than 30 degrees from the
front of the receiver.
3. Make sure strong lighting is not directed towards the IR sensor of the receiver.
4. Press each button on the remote and verify proper operation.
If these steps are taken and remote control still does not function properly
5. This step discharges the capacitor and resets the remote control. (You do not need to point
the remote control at the receiver or even have the receiver turned on.)
A: AVR35 Press the TV and the M4 buttons at the same time and hold for 12 seconds.
To Test: Make sure your AVR35 is ON, press each button on the remote and verify
proper operation of your receiver.

Let me know how it went.

Remote function on tv does not work. Put new batteries in remote but still does not work, sometimes if lucky one of the function works.

You may want to find if the remote is sending out IR signal on all buttons.
Point the remote at Digital camera lens, you should see flashing light on the camera screen (digital camera can see IR) when you hit remote button. If you od, then the problem may be in the IR receiver in the TV.

TV not responding to remotes

I ASSUME IT'S JUST THE REMOTE YOU'RE SPEAKING OF- FIRST, IF YOU HAVE A DIGITAL CAMERA, OR CAMERA PHONE, AIM IT AT THE INFRA-RED LED'S ON THE FRONT OF THE REMOTE, AND PRESS BUTTONS [LIKE POWER OR CHANNEL] - THE CCD'S USED IN DIGITAL CAMERAS ARE VERY SENSITIVE TO IR, AND YOU SHOULD SEE A WHITE LIGHT [IMAGE] OF THE LED'S, EITHER STEADY, MOMENTARALLY, OR PULSING. IF THE REMOTE HAS BEEN DROPPED, THERE IS A CCHANCE THE CRYSTAL CONTROLLING THE FREQUENCY HAS BEEN DAMAGED. TRY A UNIVERSAL REMOTE, ALTHOUGH OFTEN YOU MAY LOOSE SOME FUNCTIONS, OR THE BUTTONS REACT DIFFERENTLY THAN LABELED. SELDOMLY, BUT IT DOES HAPPEN, THE IR RECEIVER SECTION OF THE SET ITSELF CAN FAIL. THE IR RECEIVER [LOOKS LIKE A DARK LED] CAN FAIL, AND THEY'RE COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE AT RADIO SHACK
