Its not actually a problem or a fault, its just a setting that has been changed in the video card settings.

There are two ways to fix it.

One of them is to adjust the resolution, right click on your desktop and select properties, from there select the last tab which says settings, see the resolution slider, slide it towards the higher end, where the numbers get bigger, and apply, if the problem got worse you have gone to the wrong direction, if the black area is smaller or gone you have gone to the right direction. adjust the resolution until you don't have black outside on the display.

if the text and icons become too small, you need to open the advanced settings from the page, and find monitor scaling settings so that the computer fills the whole screen regardless of the resolution in use.

After you have found the scaleing setting you can go back to the resolution slider and slide it down untill you can read the screen well, the picture should cover the whole screen.

Well this is unusual & interesting.. (sic)I can still see the entire window(sic) I wonder if somehow the Display Drivers have gotten Screwed up.. Try un-installing your graphics hardware Drivers, then re-install the latest Drivers for your system. Of course B4 ya do any of that try adjusting your windows display to any other resolution and see if this changes things.. Toshiba L675D, black spots

Your screen is shot or partially disconnected. A lot of laptops have the vid card to lcd connect in bracket that connects the screen to the keyboard. I have fixed many by siimply taking it apart and reconnecting the clip but the spots dont sound good. Ebay to buy one or Cl to dump it as a fixer. Either way its a waste of money to have someone fix it for you unless you do it yourself.

Picture blacks out after a few seconds after turning on the tv

Anytime an LCD has a shade of pink, that means the CCFL lamps are about to go out. Now that you have a black screen, I'd say you just need some new bulbs.
