Hi, I'm using compaq Presario c785tu laptop. I'm not able to hear sound in headphone.But i'm getting sound from internal speakers.Could anyone please advise me on this?

    Fredtmccoyjr.Thanks for your Solution. How ever, when i connect external speakers its working fine.But when i connect the headphone with mic.i'm anot able to hear nothing from the headphone.... If the speaker is working fine then headphone must work. but that is not the case.I'm looking for more suggestions as this issue looks strange....

I assume you tried other headphones and I also assume you tried all the 3.5mm jacks, just to be sure. Assuming this is true, then the headphone jack itself is the issue. make sure the plug goes ALL the way in. if it sticks out by just a few millimeters, then that means there is something stuck in the hole itself, and not allowing the jack to work.

    If the speakers are working ok, and the headphones are not, then it is an issue with the headphones. It has to be. There is no logical reason for external speakers to work and headphones NOT to work, when they are basically using the same jack. make sure the green jack goes to the headphones and the pink one goes to the mic.

make sure that your mic input is not muted. look under control panel/sound and audio devices, then under your microphone, select "volume" and make sure the input is selected (with a chack mark in the box under the mic volume control) and not muted.

Sound is comming headphone and speaker Simultaneously

go to control panel and find the device manager, you can also get thier by clicking the my computer icon and selecting manage, once their find the audio device drivers and uninstall them, then reboot, it will reinstall automaticly and you should be on your way, if not try opening the audio preferences from the control panel, goign to devices and the n selecting one or the other as the output

C785TU problem related to sound

When you plug the headphones in what happens is that inside of the jack the internal speakers  are disconnected and the sound goes to the headphones. If both are playing either the jack is not inserted far enough or  female plug is loose or defective.  Replace or repair the female plug.

Hi,

If you can elaborate on the issue, then that would be great!!

Anyhow, let me assist you in this regard.

There will be built-in speakers in all HP notebooks. You can hear Music and songs through them without headphones.

If there is no sound from the Internal speakers, and if you are able to hear sound from the headphones and external speakers, then the Internal speakers gone bad.

If that is the case, then you need to contact HP to replace the speakers under warranty. If not, service center.

If you can reply with the exact issue, then I can explain in better way according to the issue.
