Monitor colors are not displaying correctly

My Acer AL1916w 19" monitor is only displaying colors in greenish yellow, blue, black, and white (no reds, orange). When I select the desktop and properties/display settings it does not give an option for any other colors to select. Any suggestions? Is it a monitor problem?

Hi, At the worst it is a blown monitor, but have hope. 1st try a new or known good lead, between monitor and PC. 2nd put monitor with own lead on good PC. if 1st works = result. if 2nd and monitor is same, suspect monitor, however, if 2nd works ok on other PC, then look at ur vid card. Either way, this test sequence should save you some $. Be lucky.

The monitor only has blue green & yellow color The model is AL1916W & is only a couple of yrs old

Please check the pins at both ends of the VGA cable first, also try it on another PC.
If it still does the same then you will need to open it up to inspect the inside.

they all come with two cables. blue being vga, white being dvi cable. you only need to plug the blue into both ends (computer and into the monitor) and turn on. If it is still not working how many video cards are there on the computer? Do you have it plugged into the right spot and is it tight on both ends?

Color is too yellow

Double check you vga connectors and make sure they are plugged in all the way and screwed in snug also there might be a AUTO config button on you monitor you may look for that and press it if there is.

Discolouring of monitor

There are several reasons for this most likely is the vga cable from the video port has undergone stress (sharp bending or crushing) this damages the cables inside and causes one or more of the colors to not display, usually red and or blue. odd it seems the green always is left unharmed when I see this...weird.
If you can I would replace the cable from the monitor to the computer. if the cable is sealed in then you may be able to find a replacement at a service center. and they could replace it for you

Monitor too bright

Your video card (or driver) is probably to blame.
Try hooking a new monitor up to the computer to test this.
If so, try the advanced settings in control panel. Many cards give you the ability to manually alter the picture.

If that doesn't fix it, replace the card.
