RAM running slowly

I have a GB of pc3200 DDR (400 MHz) in my Dimension 2400. I would expect it to run at 333MHz but it is running at 266MHz.

How can I fix this please? I am very wary of BIOS upgrades, is there an alternative?

You can go to Bios ser up and find the instruction of over clock (if your main support this function) Be careful when you do it as your computer will run with more energy consumed and become hot. You need bigger fan or additional fan th extract the heat out.
Alternatilvely, you go Start - Run and type msconfig. It will show the config table, you then go to start up menu, uncheck all unnessary programs there. Reboost your computer. It will help system run faster.

Hi there
this is very interting you are asking for fsb to adjest at 333mhz.
for this first you have to look your prosser fsb , *********** board fsb and your ram fsb.
fsb is a front side bus on which data ia is running at speed but for high speed you have to increase your fsb you are askin (ie:333mhz). itell you how?
example : your prosser fsb is 266mhz
your ram fsb is 400mhz as you told
*********** board fsb is 333mhz

now you system fsb is constant on 266 mhz because system on that fsb witch supporting by ram prosser and mobo( motherboard).
if you want to increase the fsb you have to buy mobo, ram,and prosser at same fsb.

DDR-400/PC-3200

if the memory supports those frequencies, in most cases it would work, now depending if the board is proprietary, like dell or some hp's, then you may run into compatibility issues. you can find this information from the manufactures website.

RAM compatibility HELP

Yes this pc3200 is hardly compatible, because your motherboard is supportable of DDR 1 type RAM, Hence th PC3200 = 400 MHz, so you can add this ram to your PC, such that the ram which is between 266mhz to 400 MHz is absolutely a DDR1 type . please dont forget to vote for me.

Hey Richard, your board has 2 x 184 DIMM slots, that are both usable, with a maximum capacity of 2GB, supported RAM types are 333MHz, and 266MHz..

Hope this is what you are looking for,

There u go! and YES, 2GB is tha maximum RAM you can have on that one.
But NO, you can NOT use PC3200 sticks, this is what you can use:
PC2100 (266-MHz) or PC2700 (333-MHz) DDR SDRAM (non-ECC)

You can read all about in the documentation obove
