if you are certain of the amount of oil in the oil pan and it should read full, then the dip stick may have pulled up a bit, or the wrong tube is installed....crawl under and look at the base of the tube before you do any banging on it . if needed you can tap it down, hitting is squarely and gently on the end of the tube.....good luck
