Sometimes if there was a paper jam and someone removed it without getting all of the paper, then there could be a small piece of paper still in the way of the sensor. If you have any compressed air it might help to blow it out of the sensor area. I have had issues with that in the past as well, so I opened up the area it said it was jammed - gave it a good going over with the can of compresses air, and it seemed to clear out the jam.

Testimonial: "No it is not a paper jam problem. It looks like microcontroller problem. I did sensor check under service menu. CVO UP_LU_FU shows 1.L 2.* 3.H 4.* where H is close. 1 is Cover-open switch and 3 is rear cover. So system is reading from sensor 3, but is not reading state of sensor 1. As i sad i checked Cover-open switch and it is working, i also shorted pins(pins related to cover-open switch) on mainboard and this won't work too. So in conclusion there is some bug in firmware or some part on mainboard is out of order. Any ideas ?"

the problem is the fuser is shot, they are still available and you might think about replacing the fed and sep tires at the same time.

SOURCE: mfc-7220 Back Cover Open

This one made me crazy, but I finally figured it out. Turn the machine around so that you are facing the back. Open the back cover. Pull down the second smaller roller cover inside the machine. If you look closely at the second smaller cover, on the right hand side (closer the the inside of the machine), is a very thin round piece of plastic that is only half the length of the smaller cover. There are 2 thin plastic tabs attached to either end of this round piece of plastic. Gently shift this over so that the 2 plastic tabs can now go into the space provided for them. I had to move mine over only 1/4 inch.

SOURCE: Error: "Back cover is open. Close back cover."

We had this problem. It turned out there was actually a piece of paper stuck in the printer! It wasn't so easy to see it from the rear.

We removed the paper from the front by taking out the ink cartridge first. Turned the printer back on and everything was fine.

SOURCE: Brother DCP 7020 error 'back cover open close

  • Open the back cover.
  • Pull the flap down that hides the orange roller on the fuser (be careful: it's hot)
  • Locate the inner flap that runs from the centre to the right hand side.
  • 3/4 along the right hand side, there is a tiny little perpendicular appendage on this bar that should sit in a slot. Locate it properly and the error will go away. You can go that by slightly bending the slot if fits into on the inner flap. The appendage can get jossled out of the slot when one is removing jambed paper.

SOURCE: I cannot get the BACK COVER OPEN message to GO

There is a little cover there that has a sensor flag on it. It is most likely in a jammed position. If you are able to carefully take the cover out, you can bend it slightly, readjust the sensor flag, and reinstall it.

Thanks

Why I got the message "close cover - upper cover open" ?

There is a sensor on the front left side usualy that detects the cover open or closed state. Check it maybe you made a mistake at assembling it or something came in between and the sensor can't detect it.

Oki b431d paper jam

Paper jam is initiated by a sensor that does not register (or tell the logic board it has registered) a movement of the paper through the printer. Try finding out what sensor is near the point the paper stopped. Look if anything id blocking a optical sensor, or any small lever is blocked in free movement. Close all covers correct and make sure nothing is blocking the covers. Not even just a small piece of paper.

Dear Sir(s) I have an OKI data OL400e the problem is "Message --Cover open" even i close it well Please advice Thanks

Hello,

had the same problem. It is easily fixed.
On my printer a OKI C5750 is had to main covers, at the front (which you have to open to fix a paper jam) and a big cover on top (which you need to open to replace toners).
On the left is a piece of plastic which (when closed) presses on a switch.
When you open both covers, and close the top one, you can see it on the left when it comes down.

You can easily remove the error (only for a brief moment) by prushing the shining metal switch to the back.

But the problem is that one of the rollers is in a wrong position.
So just take a flat screwdriver and press on the bottom roller, and it will click and the problem will be gone when you close the covers.

Turn printer off and removeright cover. Open top cover and override top cover interlock switch. Restart printer and observe main motor and photodeveloper cartridge OPC belt. Does
main motor attempt to turn but OPC belt will not rotate then check/replace the OPC belt.
Observe main motor and fuser. Does main motor attempt to turn but fuser will not turn then check/replace the fuser.
