Re: Do you think MP3s sound as good as store-bought CDs?
They do not in my honest opinion. You can here the difference caused by the sampling rate on high end systems. Usually higher frequencies aren't as crisp.
Re: Do you think MP3s sound as good as store-bought CDs?
That might have as much to do with the vintage of each. Assuming that both are the latest technology, then I have read that there is very little difference.

Phillips does not make a hybrid cd / mp3 device. If you are able to insert a cd into the device and play it then it can only play audio cds and audio cds with mp3s on it. That is to say, it is not your standard MP3 player like an iPod etc. It is a cd player that can play mp3 cds.
Check to see if it's not mute. Go into the Contol panel for the sound and check the setting ther. Make sure that all the right devices are in order. You can also check to see if other media will pla....mp3s, cds, dvd, etc. Use "process of elimination" to determine the cause.
IF THIS HELPS PLEASE VOTE.....GOOD LUCK AND THANKS..

What type of discs? You say some, are they CD-R, CD-RW, SACD, CD+R, CD+RW, standard store bought Audio CD?
When copying audio cds for playback in other players, always use CD-R to avoid any type of confilcts. CD-R will play in almost any CD player, even from the 80s. Some players say they will support CD-RW, but that is NOT GUARANTEED!
If it is Audio CDs, then the laser may be dirty. If it is MP3 cds or DATA cds, then try only putting one type of file on the disc, such as only MP3s, or only WMAs.
Mine was doing the same thing for a while. I put in one of those special CDs that have little tiny brushes on them that are used to clean the laser. And after that it worked. It still does it every once in a while, but not very often. It seems to like mp3 discs more than regular CDs. But be sure to DISABLE MULTISESION when you burn your mp3s. Otherwise it will DEFINATELY give you the error 2 message.
