SOURCE: MTD Lawn Tractor problem

The front belt should be a 954-0280A, rear 954-0370. When you go to higher gears, the front belt should be getting tighter as the vari-speed pulley is moving further back. Remove the shift plate, put the transmission in neutral. Start the engine, put speed selector in highest gear and slowly let out on the clutch. You should be able to see what the problem is. It will do everything the same as if were in gear, except move. Make sure you have the correct belts.

SOURCE: i need to replace a mower deck belt on my exmark

There will be one or two "idler pulleys" besides the spindles that turn the blades. Usually one idler pulley is mounted on a plate that swivels, pulled by a strong spring, to put tension on the belt. The other idler pulley is usually fixed in place. Use strong pliers (vise-grips or channellock) to pull the spring out of its notch at one end, releasing the tension. Then the belt can be threaded. Now you have to restore tension by by pulling on the spring and anchoring it on that swivel plate again.

SOURCE: How do you replace a drive belt on a husqvarna cz4817

i just replaced my belt on a cz 4817. On one side there should be a bar with a spring on it. If you sitting in it it will be on you left side mounted on the deck itself. Push the bar in for about an inch and then up over the lip thats the belt tension spring. you should now be able to remove your old and put the new on. If you need the diagram to show you how to lace the new belt let me know and i will email it to you. good luck

Me drive belt is loose

Assuming the tensioner pulley is good and the associated spring is still stiff then the belt has simply stretched with time and use and should be replaced.

Do I tighten a ground belt from a 2011 Husqvarna rz5424 zero turn lawn mower?

There is not an "adjustment" tension is held by an idler pulley. If the belt is too loose, you must change it.

What is the part called that goes on top of the pulley were the belt goes through

Is it a drive belt or on the deck? I helped a friend of mine replace the drive belt tension spring on his. It was located just above the drive pully. Was a very stout spring. Used a brake spring tool and it popped right on. Is this the same thing you are talking about? the L shaped piece with a belt tensioner on it? If not, I will get back on here later and try to help. Thanks.

How do i replace drive belt on husqvarna zero turn model#96645580

To replace EZT belt
Park the mower on a level surface. Engage the park brake.

EZT belt removal
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the fan blades on the EZT as this can affect cooling or damage the EZT.
  1. Remove the deck belt
  2. Create slack in the belt by pushing the spring loaded idler arm away from the belt.
  3. Rotate arm to release belt tension.
  4. The belt should now be able to be removed from the engine pulley and EZT pulleys.
Belt installation
  1. Wrap the EZT belt around the EZT pulleys.
  2. Wrap the belt around the engine pulley.
  3. Route the belt around the inside of the idler pulley while keeping tension off the belt and then slowly the idler assembly afterwards.
  4. Check that the belt is on all the pulleys correctly and test drive your unit.
  5. Afterward then re-install your mower deck once your are satisfied with the drive installation..

Is it possible to tighten a loose belt on my cub cadet RZT-54 ZERO TURN RIDER.model number 17AFCACK009

HI,
I assume you are reffering to the mower deck pulley...however, the belt that drives the two hydraulic motors work the same way as deck pulley system.
First, there is no manual adjustment on the pulley system. Rather there is a spring loaded pivot arm to which an idle pulley is fastened to. The spring pulls the pivot arm in such a way the it forces the idle pulley to keep the belt tight at all times. The same setup is used on the ground drive belt.
Sometimes these springs become disconnected or break so that no tension is placed on the belt to keep it tight.
Check the tensioner spring to ensure that it is connected properly and applying tension to the belt. Otherwise, you may have the incorrect belt installed, the belt is routed incorrectly or the belt may be stretched out and need replacing.
Here is a diagram to clarify, the spring is the dark black item;

Blade belt diagram for an is 2000 61 inch

I don't have a diagram but we just had to replace our belt and Here's how we did it. Note that the shiny gold/silver pulleys make contact with the flat side of the belt while the black pulleys make contact with the u-shaped side of the belt. If you look at the pulleys you will see they have different shapes to correspond with the different shape on each side of the belt. The drive pulley at the back makes contact with the u-shaped side of the belt.
Release the tension spring and thread the belt. Belt slips under the middle back pulley with the tension spring released. Then use a spring pulling tool (there is such a thing) or another method to pull the tension spring back over the bolt. Ensure belt is threaded properly with no twisting and nothing caught in the pulleys before firing it up.
Hope that helps.

How do I change the drive belt on a 7021r mower? The drive will move the mower on pavement but not on the grass

First, you need to make sure you have the right tools for the job. You'll need a wrench, work gloves, mower blade clamp, drain pan and fresh fuel. Check your owner's manual for the correct belt to your specific lawn mower. Belts that are not specifically designed for your mower will not fit properly and may wear down prematurely. Next, remove the spark plug wire. This is a safety precaution to prevent the mower from accidentally starting.
Now you can remove the screws that secure the drive cover to the mower deck. Once you've taken off the drive cover, loosen the screw that holds the belt tension spring to the transmission. As the screw is loosened, tension on the belt is released allowing you to remove the belt off of the front transmission pulley.
At this point you'll need to turn your mower on its side to take off the mower blade. Be sure to use a work glove to protect your hand when removing the mower blade. You can use a lawn mower blade clamp over the blade to secure it. Unscrew the bolt to remove the blade and then the engine baffle. Once the pulley unit is exposed, you can remove the entire drive belt. Insert the new drive belt and place one end on the rear pulley and re-attach the engine baffle. Then, place the mower blade back (making sure it's facing the correct way with bottom of the blade facing the ground) and tighten the bolt. Remove the clamp and return the mower to its upright position so you can place the other end of the belt to the front pulley. Remember to tighten the screw to the tension spring.
Put the front drive cover back on, tighten the screw that secures the cover to the deck and reconnect the spark plug wire. Add new fuel to your mower and you're done!

Toro zreo turn lawn mower... mower runs but won't go when engaged. found a large spring broken?

This spring is the tensioner for the drive belt. visit www.arcolawn.com to look up your model and get the parts shipped to you.
I recommend a hook or rope to install it.
