SOURCE: Small Electric cooker on Range does not reach temperature

The orange light is designed to go off when temperature required is achieved in the oven. If the light remains on it suggests that the oven is not heating, It could be a thermostat problem but it's more likely to be the element.

SOURCE: Timer runs continuously - Does not stop at all

There should be a timer motor on the timer. That is most likely burnt out and will cause the timer to not shut down. Just replace the timer and that will solve the problem

Why doesn't timer count down correctly?

The timer will only start counting down when your pressure cooker has reached FULL pressure. Maybe it has SOME pressure but for some reason the cooker cannot reach the needed temperature. First, remember that this step can take up to 20 minutes, more if the food inside is frozen. Also, take a look at the pressure cooker trouble-shooter to find out if it is an equipment or recipe problem:

Do the low and high settings mean 10 and 20 pounds pressure

It depends on your pressure cooker brand - each one has a different setting. For pressure cookers that reach 15psi (pounds per square inch) the high setting would be 15 and the low setting would be 8 pounds of pressure. For electric pressure cookers the high pressure is generally 12psi the low pressure setting is generally 6 psi.

FYI: No domestic pressure cooker reaches 20 pounds of pressure.

What does rrp mean

I searched and searched for this yesterday and my sister in law had one so we asked her but while waiting, we finally found on another forum, it means reaching right pressure. My sister also confirmed this. It did that for about 15 minutes and then started its cooking countdown. So you're good and we had delicious chicken stew!

Setting cooking time

It depends on the brand and model of your pressure cooker. If it's a stovetop pressure cooker, you start counting the cooking time once the cooker has reached pressure (check your manual for details).

If it is electric you should push either the +, or "cook time" button.

All of this information should be in your pressure cooker's manual. If you lost it, you can find an electronic copy of it here:

Steam is escaping

The valve should be seat to sealing. When the cooker is coming up to pressure it is normal for the steam to push oxygen out of the valve. Then, once it has reached pressure and the cooker starts to count down the cooking time the steam will stop coming out.

Steam release doesn't work

When the cooker is reaching pressure, the valve should point to the dot, and after pressure cooking, you turn the valve towards release. The valve will feel quite loose, but it if it's in the wrong position when the cooker is reaching pressure then the cooker cannot build, and consequently will not release, pressure.

Here is the manual if you need more information on how to operate the cooker:

Cuisinart cpc600. What is causing erratic operation?

The recipe in it does not contain enough liquid, or the liquid is too thick, for it to reach and maintain pressure. Since the heat-up time to pressure is taking too long the cooker is shutting off.

Use tested, reliable recipes without condensed soups, flavor packets or jarred sauces. Don't worry, there are plenty!
