I found a Samsung repair guy, who came promptly. I watched closely: centre two buttons "Time" & "Anti-crease" cleared the error message. Back in action now. I hope this saves someone else the hassle trying to get help (& paying!).
SOURCE: BCM Problem ... Lost Contacts
The BCM uninstallation doesn't delete your databases. They should still be on your computer here:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application
With either a *.mdf or *.ldf extension. Those are SQL databases which you can get the data off and into a CSV file which you can import into outlook (of course technical expertise is needed) or you could more easily (once the problem with BCM is resolved), make BCM re-recognize the databases by following these instructions:
1. Go into BCM and create a new database. That database needs to match the
name of the .MDF file. So if the MDF file is named "MyBusiness.MDF", create
a new BCM Database with that name
2. Stop the MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ Server by going to Start > Run >
services.msc and selecting the MSSQL$MICROSOFTSMLBIZ service
3. Copy the original .mdf & .ldf files over the blank database. They should
be in the following location
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\Business Contact Manager
4. Start the Server again (see step 2)
5. Restart BCM and see if you can access your data
which I found here (credit to Larry from the Lockergnome's forums).
If you could write what the error message is I could possibly help you resolve the BCM problem you're having, thereby making it easier for you to view the data on the SQL database files.
SOURCE: AVG Free install fails
The reason you couldn't install AVG 8 with XP and Service Pack 1 is because the system requirements for AVG 8 are that Win XP have Service 2 or higher. Install the Windows Service Pack 2 or 3 and you should find that it works okay then. I've done over 100 Win XP installs of AVG 8 now and only have two that are failing (after having AVG 7.5 working fine on them - both getting "action failed for file avgssie.dll : file registration" and am chasing this up with AVG now.

This may be a simple control fault that can be reset by unplugging for 5 minutes or switching the breaker switch off for five minutes also. if the five minute reset doesn't restore the machine to its original operational value, you will then need to replace the main control board in this unit. it has failed.

SOURCE: I dropped my Sony & gets I/O Error status 0x000000e9
Well if you call the manufacturer of this laptop or Microsoft they will identify what that error code means so you know what to fix but don't know whether you'll be able to fix it by yourself.
Hope this information helps you!
