Some sets and devices have HDMI control that can turn off and on devices connected to them. Look into the settings of both devices and search for anything to do with HDMI control.

SOURCE: HDMI connectivity

I have the SA8300HDC STB from Time Warner. I get this error from my DVD recorder, not from my HDMI connection. I've read that the error is due to copy protection. The only solution I've read about has to do with a new Samsung Set-top box from TWC. Funny this copy protection error didn't ever come up with my old VCR connection to the HDTV. TWC apparently told a lot of people that the problem would be solved by a software update from TWC in October 2007 & then in December 2007. Guess TWC isn't sure what the problem is but everyone who has mentioned this Samsung cable box has reported success with their HDMI connection.

SOURCE: No surround sound when attaching hdmi to TV

Try running the optical TOSLINK cable from the TV to the receiver. If the TV doen't have a digital optical output, then try going into the menu on your cable box and setting the audio output to the digital optical out. Also check your TV menu and make sure NETCOMMAND is diabled. Some of your newer HDTV have Netcommand that allows the TV to control other devices through the HDMI cable.

Panasonic Viera TH-37PX60U not turning on. Six blinking lights.

Try below and if still doesnt work itsbetter to call a repairman .
Here is the simple 5 step process we follow when this happens to our plasma tv. It works most of the time.
1) Completely unplug EVERYTHING connected to the tv, including HDMI cables
2) Press and hold the power button on the tv for 10 seconds
3) Plug power cord ONLY back in to TV
4) Turn tv on.
5) Plug in all other cables at this time.
It is helpful to use a good surge protector with this tv. It still goes out occasionally but not as much.
If the process does not work, wait longer (like an hour) after unplugging everything

Sony Bravia built in DVD player wont accept the discs - why is this?

Performing a power reset
1. Turn off the television.
2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
5. Turn on the television.
How to establish an HDMI connection between a TV and other device.
Follow the steps below if the HDMI® connection between your TV and other device is not working:
1. Make sure both the TV and other device are turned on.
2. While turned on, unplug the power cords for the TV and device from the electrical outlet.
3. Disconnect the HDMI cables from the TV and other product.
4. Wait 60 seconds.
5. While the HDMI cables are disconnected, plug the power cords back into the electrical outlet.
6. Turn on the TV.
7. Re-connect the HDMI cables.
8. Turn on the HDMI-connected product.

The TV should now detect the HDMI signal from the connected device and operate normally. If there is still a problem, disconnect the HDMI cable from both products and then reconnect it in the opposite direction. In some situations this has been reported to resolve connection issues.

My coby lcd tv won't work for my ps3 what wires would I need to make it work

You will need an HDMI cable. Please follow the below instructions.

Instructions

  1. Before you begin installation:
    • Turn OFF the PS3TM system using the [MAIN POWER] switch (in the back)
    • Unplug the AC power cord from the electrical outlet
    • Turn OFF and unplug the TV
  2. Connect one end of the HDMI cable into the [HDMI OUT] port on the back of the PS3 system. Connect the other end of the HDMI cable into the [HDMI Input] port of the TV or display monitor. ps3_8_hdmiconnecttv.gif
  3. Plug in the AC power cord by connecting one end of the AC power cord into the [AC IN] port on the back of the PS3 system and the other end into an electrical outlet. ps3_11_connectacpower.gif
  4. Press the [MAIN POWER] switch on the rear of the system. A red light should appear on the front of the system indicating power is available.
  5. Turn on the PS3 by pressing the touch-sensitive [On/Off button] on the system front. The red light will turn green, indicating the PS3 is now turned on.
Note: The blue light will also appear on the front of the system if you have a disc inserted.
  6. Plug in the TV and turn the power on. The PS3 should detect the HDMI display device automatically. When prompted, "Do you want to output video and audio using HDMI?", select YES and press the icn_btnx_color.gifbutton. (You may need to press the PS button on the center of the SIXAXISTM controller to enable the controller first).
  7. The next screen will ask, "Do you want to automatically switch to the optimal setting?" Select YES and press the icn_btnx_color.gifbutton.
  8. On the next screen, the PS3 will display the maximum resolution capable on the display (i.e., 1080p). The screen will display, "Do you accept the setting?" You will have 30 seconds to confirm your answer.2 Select YES and press the icn_btnx_color.gifbutton to save your settings. You have now completed the HDMI installation.

Lights went off now tv wont come back on

We recommend you remove all HDMI cables from the TV then unplug the unit's power cord for 30 seconds. Then plug the power cord directly into the wall. If the problem persists we recommend you have the TV evaluated by an authorized service center.

I have a panasonic Th-42pv500a. I'm trying to connect my ps3 Via HDMI but it won't work. The ps3 works in my other tv with the same HDMI cable. And the foxtel box works in the panasonic with the same HDMI...

the playstation detects that you are changing display settings. hopefully you still have the old red yellow and white cord that we all used to use to plug in stuff to your tv . use this cord to connect your playstation to the tv, it should pop up that you want to change display settings. then after you go through that unplug and recconect the hdmi and it should run you through it again, Another option - when you plug in your ps3 to the tv , turn everything on the tv and playstation. if nothing pops up turn off your tv and playstation , literaly unplug them from the outlet for a good minute then plug everything back in and you should fix it that way. hope one of these work

Try unplugging the receiver from your electrical outlet for 10 seconds and plug back in. This will cause the receiver to reboot and re-acquire the satellite signal. After this, you should get your picture back. I hope this helps.

I have a samsung tv and samsung blu ray i have my dvr in hdmi 1 and my blu ray in hdmi 2. when i first turn on my tv and blu ray it works fine but if i switch to cable the back to blu ray it says no...

First, HDMI is not a perfect hook-up solution. Cable box connections via HDMI are notorious for being problematic. The best thing you can do is contact Samsung and get the latest firmware for your TV.
Samsung Customer Care: 1-800-Samsung (1-800-726-7864). If this does not resolve the issue, connect the cable box using Component cables instead of the HDMI. Component cables are HD also. I hope this was of some assistance.

Everytime i try to plug the hdmi cord inot the playstation it shoots sparks out and flips my breaker. 2 times, t different hdmi cords...what do i do!? I cant use it..

You might want to try connecting everything unenergised. Shut everything down (turn off buttons on both ps3 and breaker). You may even try unplugging the breaker from the power line. Now connect the HDMI PS3 to TV, audio cables, etc. Energise everything and turn on.

My screen wont work i tried a hdmi cable but wouldnt work what do i do?

If you can get a display with the default setup (original cords) follow this procedure:

a) Plug in BOTH the HDMI cord and the other display cords to your TV.

b) On your TV, using the disignated video input (not HDMI) you should have the main screen

c) Go to settings, and then display settings. Set up your display to read HDMI. Your screen will go dark.

d) Quickly change your TV input from video to HDMI and it should still be displayed. Save the changes.

e) Shut off the system, unplug the original cords leaving in just your HDMI cord and your designated audio cord (preferably fiber-optic).

f) Turn it back on and you should be good to go.
