XTAR VC4 not charging?

Charging current drops at 0A or 0.1A if the cells are depleted below 3.5V Only workaround was to plug/unplug multiple times till the charging power goes around 0.5A. Got the recomended charger made by XTAR too! Still no fix...Anyone fixed this problem somehow?

Try charge that batteries over 3.5V first and see if the XTAR charger will still reject them.
I guess the main problem lies in the XTAR firmware, if the max depleted voltage limit will be lowered with a 0.2-0.3V...it should behave so much better!
Wish i was able to help modify that firmware myself but is not one of my skills.

I tried to send a 'Thumbs Up' for your reply, but I found no usual option to do so? I do so now manually... Thank you.

Others who replied about 'cell phones'(?) sorry but unless unless YOUR cell uses AAA or AA batteries your replies are not relevant.

Ya, the internal protection wants to protect your XTAR from "shorts"... that low voltage fools the regulators. I have one just like yours and mine can't be 'tricked' into charging no matter how many times I connect and reconnect. If you bypass the regulators you may cook your batteries ~ if you forget about them in the charger; so "smart chargers" are your best bet,
After my XTAR I purchased a POWEREX and it was much better, but failed too after just 4 months. Sadly the seller is out of business. Now I'm using a really crummy charger I really don't trust...

SOURCE: Does leaving a cell phone charger plugged in to an outlet at home, without having the phone charging in it,drain energy from your home?

Yes. You are right. Here energy is not the criteria. It is always safe to unplug the charger (when not in use) to prevent the damage of a cell phone due to accidental over load of electricity or short circuits. Moreover Chargers do draw power when plugged in, whether or not a device is actually being charged.
If the charger is plugged in someplace easy to access, like right by where you keep your phone, you should unplug it. But if it would be difficult to have to plug it in every time you need to use it, you'll be fine just leaving it plugged in..and.It still uses energy even when not charging. Any electronic device plugged in a socket uses energy whether it is in use or not.

SOURCE: sAMSUNG LAPTOP PLUGGED IN NOT CHARGING

try removing the battery and just use the mains power. If the laptop works you may need a new battery. If it doesn't your charger is faulty.

How can I tell when my Tzumi bluetooth keyboard is fully charged?

VERY COOL ADDITION for almost ALL of your USB charging needs and questions! Works great for Cell Phones too and much more...

GO to EBAY and search for THIS auction/sale:
253039367398
$2.43 (so heck ~ get 5 and give them as special gifts)!

DO NOT order the (lower cost) BLUE body versions because they are a pain with flashing and very confusing LEDs!

This puppy TELLS you the USB Voltage to your device (the BLUE LED reading) AND tells you how much CHARGE it's taking when you first connect your depleted device! In your case it's a keyboard...

As your device charges you will see that CURRENT (shown in RED) drop lower and lower until it reaches just a few milliamps... then you know it's done.

KNOW this charge rate will change from USB device to device. Also, do not expect the RED LEDs to go to zero... it's just your charger 'float-charging' your device.

It also tells you if your CHARGER is doing it's job! IF the voltage really sags to (4.2 volts in example) it's time to replace the charger! Your target voltage is very close to 5 voltswith your device connected.

There are 2 USB output jacks from this meter... the meter will tell you the TOTAL current demand for both items.

Laptop battery life tip

Extend your battery life on your laptop, do not leave it plugged in and charging all of the time. When a laptop is constantly charging, it will deplete the cells on the battery. Two ways to combat this, charge your laptop fully and remove the battery while it is plugged in, or you can run your laptop on battery power a few times a week until the battery dies.

No Power with or without battery

The device requires current compartment observations. Ascertain that bateries in compartment, cables wires are traceable to the outs, and that visible malfunct objects are least are unavilable. Perform recharge on computer devices to restore battery cell capacity. Usually depleted current requires full recharges to last an entire duration with every feature powered off to attain process. After ascertaining the restroation capacities, usually the devcie should power on after charging else the battery requires replacement an aletrnate as depleted completely.

I want to know how to completely deplete the battery before charging it again

Use your cell as long as its battery depletes completely itself or play Music, Games or call in order to deplete your battery completely.
When your cell gives "Empty Battery" or "Low battery" type warning for three times and turns off itself your cell's battery is empty then. Recharge it till its battery full to have more talk time then usually you have.

2000 flhtcui after driving couple hours my charging system drops

Are you sure your gauge is not lying to you? Ride the bike until you see that your charging voltage has dropped. Then check the voltage directly across the battery with a meter. If it is indeed below the 14 volt mark, you are either drawing too much current or your alternator is not putting out enough.

To check the alternator, unplug the regulator where it plugs into the engine case. Down inside the plug in the case, you'll see either two sockets or two pins. Using a digital volt ohm meter (DVOM) put one lead to pin or socket and the other lead to the other pin or socket. Put the meter in the 50 volt AC range. The voltage coming out of the alternator is AC voltage, not DC. It is converted to DC by the regulator. Start the engine an bring the engine up to a high idle. You should read 32-40 volts AC. If so, you stator is good and working as it should.

Now, you're left with either something drawing too much current or a bad regulator. The book tells you how to check the regulator but you must use a specific type of meter or you'll get erronous readings. If you have added a lot of extra lights to the bike, this could be overworking the alternator. Check the ground on the regulator to the frame. It must be grounded well.

Battery only charges upto 7%

Chances are the battery itself has been damaged. These batteries have several cells linked together, and if any of the cells fail then capacity drops accordingly. You may want to look to replacing the battery.

Hey

The sidekick has an issue with its charging port going bad. Do you get the orange light when you plug it in?

It about 80 dollars to get fixed or you can do a workaround for about 30 dollars.
What you need to get is a charging cradle that has a spare battery charging slot. This will you allow to charge your battery seperate from the phone. I also recommend getting a second battery so one can be charging at all times.
Here are some links for the charger and the batteries:

Turn on problem

Some times, the charging cable from the laptop will not charge a fully depleted battery. If you have not already done so, try charging it using the wall charger that came with the phone.

Hope this works!
