Don’t power it up without speaker wires, with no homage load you can ruin the amplifiers. Connect everything up again. Make sure all wires are connect and “correctly”. Positive to positive and negative to negative. This sounds like what the receiver was trying to tell you. They have to be connected like that. Otherwise the sound will be really funky

SOURCE: Yamaha htr5730 receiver - turns off

You may have speaker wires touching each other or a short circuit in the wire. "Check SP Wires" means to check your speaker wires.

SOURCE: Check SP wires

if you checked wire carefully in high ohm reading and confirm no internal short circuit.-please follow me:-1-disconnect all speakers cables from receiver and check if it is fine-try to connect your speakers one by one until you find the bad one.if it is still shut down you will have a problem inside receiver itself and needs service center to fix.
-it maybe speaker check it also one by one with good known cable.

SOURCE: problem with sp cable (yamaha)

The speaker cables are the ones that clamp or tighen down on the back of the reciever. All the spkr wires have to have the positive and negative leads correct. Also not aven one little strand of wire can be touching another conductor or you will have this problem. Make sure all leads are correctly ran and hooked up positive to positive and negative to negative from the back of the reciever all the way to the speakers. This should solv your problem.

My yamaha htr 5230 shuts off everytime i turn the volume up at all

Check the speker wires could be shorting out to the cabinet. If you still have the problem remove one speaker at a time.

Probably a bad speaker or wires.

Yamaha 5.1 says Check SP Cable and shuts down - has been fine.

It has nothing to do with the input you choose. A speaker wire is shorted. Disconnect each one in turn and try it. The last one disconnected before it stops failing is the one.

Yamaha HTR 5740 AV Receiver

This error message means there is a short across one of the speaker leads, i.e. red is touching black. Turn power off and disconnect both speakers (or all in case you are running a 5.1 setup.) Reattach one speaker and turn power on. If no error message, turn off and reattach second speaker. Continue doing this until you get the error message. Once you have determined which speaker is causing the problem. Check both ends of the wire and look for a short. If none can be found, the problem is probably with the receiver.

My Yamaha HTR-6050 shuts off at random times and says "Check SP Cable"

That is a check the speaker wire error, caused by a short or perceived short. If you look at the back of the receiver you may see 1 strand of the wire loose, they are very hard to see sometimes. You may use banana plugs as it is painful to get everything hooked up without a few loose strands.

If there is still the issue check your speaker connections for the same issue. If they are in ceiling/wall speakers disconnect them all then plug them in one at a time to narrow it down.

If the issue persists perhaps one of your speaker wires has a short somewhere, could be a misplaced drywall screw from hanging a picture, or a carpet tack strip, or a pet deciding it was a nice chew toy.

If you are completely sure it is none of those then I would say it is a bad speaker or receiver. Try changing in and out known good speakers/receivers if you have access to them to see which one it is.

Good luck

Yamaha Receiver RX-V630 not working (resets itself immediately)

This maybe an easy one. Have you unhooked all the wires going in to the stereo. "SP wires" means you have wires to the speakers are touching and the stereo is shutting down to avoid overloading. Hope this helps...
