When i turn on my receiver, it starts up for a

first of all , check all your speaker wiring make sure none are touching acrros(frayed) . if good disconnect 1 speaker at a time and turn on unit . if it stys on you found your problem- a shorted speaker.
If none of these things work, disconnected all speaker aand check with a volt ohm meter( you can get a cheapie at Radio Shack)- acroos each speaker you should have either 4ohms, 6 ohms or 8 ohms, depending on the rating on the back of the speaker. if any read lower, replace speaker.

If all else fails, go to yamaha.com/usa and go to support, call service center for repair listed on site.
hope this helps ! Steve A.

No sound when connecting optical cable from set

Make sure your "Input Select" "Audio" portion of the main menu is set to "Auto" you may have it in analog thus only allowing audio from the front analog input. Also check your digital input select option as well. you may have it assigned to another source input. Go into the main menu of the receiver and you will find all the settings. Hope this helps. If you still have issues, post a comment and I can help you troubleshoot further.

Why does my Yamaha HTR-6130 power down after 3 seconds?

I expect there is either a power supply issue or one of the amplifiers has failed causing over current to turn it off as a protection to the power supply.

Yamaha M-60 Power Amplifier distortion and sound goes off sometimes

Being from 1985 or there abouts, it probably needs some TLC at a Yamaha service centre. May need new capacitors and resolder dry joints for age related issues.

Jerky sound in one channel Yamaha M-60 Power Amplifier

WD-40 ... Very dangerous as it not only flammable when wet but is bad for electrical contacts as it leaves a residue behind that does not conduct electricity very well. Check speaker connections first.
