Some thermostats such a cycling thermostat are resettable and automatically cycle on and off based on your temperature setting choices. Others such as a thermal fuse are not resettable and will blow if dryer gets to hot. That type has to be replaced after determining and correcting why it overheated.

Where will I find the heat reset button on my tcm580 condenser dryer

Hello Mandy, I am not sure what you mean by a heat reset button; perhaps explaining what the problem is, I may be able to assist you. Are you referring to the dryer motor's overload reset button? As a safety feature, a dryer has a high-limit thermostat and either a thermal fuse or thermal cut-off fuse.

In the event of poor air flow where there is no proper ventilation to the heating element- the internal temperature of the dryer exceeds its high-limit, the dryer will shut-down; once it cools off, you should be able to run it again.

However, if the thermal fuse (located on the blower housing) or the thermal cut-off fuse (located on the heater housing) goes, the dryer heating element will will not heat up or the dryer will stop running altogether.

Please note, a dryer will have either a thermal fuse OR a thermal cut-off fuse, but not both.

By-the-way, there has been a recall on certain models of HotPoint Creda, and Indesit tumble dryers due to a fire hazard risk; I am sending you the link...If your dryer is manufactured by HotPoint model TCM580, then your dryer maybe affected. Read the info in the link- it'll give you instructions on how to determine if your specific dryer is affected and what to do.

Where is the reset button on a CDT00 dryer

I assume you are speaking of a Hotpoint electric dryer based upon the model and question. There is no reset button on this dryer. Does it not heat or does it not tumble? Typically with these dryers, it is a thermostat that has failed if you are having a heat issue. Check this website;

WERE IS THE RESET BUTTON ON HOTPOINT DRYER CDT 80

Not sure if all dryers have a thermostat reset. You can check your model (which might be CTD80 and not CDT80). Usually it can be reset if there is a small hole in the middle of the device where you can insert a tooth pick and press it.

Location of thermostats is at the back. Make sure the power chord is unplugged from the wall.

You-Tube video "sfGInKA3yp8" placeholder (do not delete)

Common faults -
1 The heating elements can fail (meaning open circuit)
2 There are cut-outs (T.O.C's) that might need resetting
3 The thermostats (stats) can trip out or burn out (meaning opencircuit)
4 Moderntumble dryers also have sensors and pcb's (Printed circuitboards) thesehave programs that can fail and circuitry although most should produce an errorcode showing you were the fault is.
5 Faultyconnections and burned wires may also be the fault.

Hotpoint CTD 40

Thermostats do not have a reset
IF the dryer has failed by overheating, the device is called a thermal fuse, it is a one-shot protector, and needs to be replaced.
If the thermal fuse has blown the dryer is likely {expletive deleted} with lint and needs to be cleaned.
STILL require make and model details for replacement instructions

Is it still under warranty? I've read that these machines are better left at the retailer...
