If the system is not totally messed up it fixes some files and starts up. If the system is dead then you need to re-install yes.

Hi, you still need to do the updates before you can put software on. On the desktop go to START....ALL PROGRAMS....then at the top you will see an item marked UPDATES. Click and go from there, it will download a lot of items as long as you are connected to the internet.

SOURCE: hp pavillion dv6000 laptop drivers for microsoft windows XP prof.

You can not dual boot with oem software from HP. I run dual boot linux and XP. I tried everything to get vista to work in the dual boot. Here are your options. Get a full copy of windows vista and XP with keys. Windows vista can not be the HP Cd for reinsatlation of windows. It has to be a stand alone copy of Vista. Back up data. Format drive, install xp, install vista.
Option 2 see it there is to uyse a virtualization software I use Kubuntu (Linux) with virtualbox and I used the HP disk to instll in the virtual machine. It is not a perfect system but it allows me to work on vista, and xp while never having to dualboot. think of it as windows in windows. or I like windows in Linux.  http://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads
Is the download page for virtual box.. let me know if you need more help.

What does lack of basic services mean?

means lack of compatibility here is why..Criticism of upgrade licenses pertaining to Windows Vista Starter through Home Premium was expressed by Ars Technica's Ken Fisher, who noted that the new requirement of having a prior operating system already installed was going to cause irritation for users who reinstall Windows on a regular basis.[154] It has been revealed that an Upgrade copy of Windows Vista can be installed clean without first installing a previous version of Windows. On the first install, Windows will refuse to activate. The user must then reinstall that same copy of Vista. Vista will then activate on the reinstall, thus allowing a user to install an Upgrade of Windows Vista without owning a previous operating system.[155] As with Windows XP, separate rules still apply to OEM versions of Vista installed on new PCs: Microsoft asserts that these versions are not legally transferable (although whether this conflicts with the right of first sale has yet to be clearly decided legally).[156]

How to sign into a google drive

Install google drive. Start program. Wait for prompt. When prompted put sign in details (user name and password) and click login. If it's already installed, but you're not signed in, go to the "Show hidden icons" drop down menu next to the clock, right click on the good drive icon, click the sign in option.

Dear helpdesk, I am having a problem with my Microsoft Vista Home Premium OS, the problem I encounter is rebooting continuously without logging into my user account log on. It also say, start up repair...

This message is telling you that the hard disk windows is on is corrupted beyond window's ability to fix it. While it is very slightly possible that formatting the disk and performing a totally fresh install may take care of the problem temporarily, it is a sure sign that if the hard disk is not totally dead already, it is heading that way now. Even if things appear to run perfectly fine after formatting to do a fresh install it's only a matter of time before it dies again. The best solution would be to replace the hard drive entirely. Good news is that of all the parts of your system that could have died, the hard drive is far from the most expensive, and considering the age of the system, even a cheap drive should be a step up in size from what you had previously.

My Computer will turn on and go to the windows XP loading screen with the blue bars and will won't load up, it rarely does but when it gets to the log on user screen it freezes

Right after your POST screen goes off, before you get to Windows starting, try pushing the F8 key several times until you get the Windows boot options. Then try 'last known good configuration".
If that doesn't work, you can boot from the Windows installation disk and try to repair your Windows installation.Let me know what happens.
And good or bad, please rate my post?

Forgot my password to log on my profile

There used to be a backdoor to get in but if your system is up to date it should of removed this. However, try pressing CTRL+ALT+ESC simultaneously a few times and it should take you to another screen with a user name and password. Type administrator for the user name and no password and see if it works. If it doesn't do anything than the update already patched it. The only other way you might fix it is running a repair installation of Windows. This will replace the system files but not the user files on the system. Go through the process of installing windows until it detects the previous installation then it will ask you to repair the installation. Say yes and go through the motions. If this does not help comment back and we can go from there.

Good Luck,
