SOURCE: loud noise with vibration

Your impeller is almost certainly cracked or shattered. I just changed mine today after I sucked up a small 1/4" screw. Unbelievable how much damage a tiny object can cause! The kit can be purchased at the popular online auction. I got mine from seller "cleaner48" for $18 with S&H. Get the kit with the latex sealant included. This is a must or your machine will blow dust all over. The seller's site gives instructions but he also sends them with the kit.

The repair took me 1-1/4 hours. I needed a Phillips screwdriver and a medium flat head screwdriver. Not too hard. You must remove about 12 screws and 3 large parts to get at the impeller.

Kirby making clicking noise
Posted by jenad on Jun 12, 2008
In the middle of vacuuming my car out, my Kirby Sentria began making a loud clicking noise, sounds like it's coming from the motor. It's never done this before. I checked for debris in the fan and removed the bag and checked there too. The vacuum still works, just not sure if I should continue to use it.

Hello,
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. The clicking noise sound s to me that it is coming from the motor like you said and I am not sure how new the Kirby vacuum is, but if it is still under a factory warranty it is a good idea to have Kirby take a look @ the vacuum because it could be the fan, carbon brushes or something could be hitting the armature making a clicking sound and if it is the armature then I would get it check ASAP. Feel free to contact your local factory authorized Kirby dealer in your area and also I will give you the website and the customer service phone # to Kirby for further assistance. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.

SOURCE: Make terrible noise when you click the lever to lover the back to use

That means that your brush is locking up. Lay the vacuum on its front and tilt the foot back. Remove the sole plate and make sure nothing is blocking brush from spinning. Then make sure that the end caps of the brush are facing up or toward the back of the unit which ever way you look at it. If thats all fine there is something that is jamming your clutch. This is harder to remove and will probably need to be replaced. They are not that expensive as you can probably get it for 60 bucks.

SOURCE: Kirby G6 clicks while in neutral

Bracket cam assembly (see and buy HERE). It is worn so it does not disengage gears completely. On the part listing you will also find the instructions on how to replace it.

The vacuum drive makes a wining sound

Does It make the noise all the time or only when the machine is moving. If it does it only when you push the vacuum that noise is normal. The older Kirby transmissions make a whining noise when pushed.
