Maytag dishwasher not draining fully

Maytag dishwasher, model MDB5600AWW. The dishwasher is not emptying fully, leaving dirty water in the bottom at the end of a cycle. If I start and immediately cancel a new cycle, triggering a drain cycle, I can hear the pump click on and the water is mostly removed. Sometimes it seems to take two cancels to really get rid of all the water. The dirty water is never being fully pumped out before the rinse, so my dishes aren't rinsing clean. I checked the drain hose and found no blockage, and I dismantled the interior as far as the filter and chopper blade and found no clogs. Any idea of what the problem might be? Thanks!

Try cleaning out the air gap.  The air gap is not part of the machine, and is located on your sink. If this becomes clogged, it may cause the machine to not drain properly.  Also, I know you said you checked the drain hose and cleaned as far as the filter and chopper blade, but have you checked the lower filter?  There is a filter located underneath the machine that should periodically be cleaned.  To check this, you need to access the machine from underneath by removing the bottom vanity cover. Hope that one of these helps!

I need a manual for the Maytag MDB5600 dishwasher

Hi there
Very irritating taking dirty dishesout of the machine. You havelooked at the bottom, emptied and cleaned the svive. And listened to sound when emptying, is it the right sound?
Go online and look for MANUALSONLINE.COM. I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED IF YOU FOUND your Maytag there.
good luck

Maytag dishwasher model DWU9906BAX, 15 years old, in the past 6 months we have been finding dirty water in the bottom between uses. We have made sure the 'drain' cycle emptys the bottom after...

This is truly a drain pump fault as it fails to pump out the dirt and water. In a period of time the drain can get choked and so it will not drain out efficiently. so it is best to remove the pump and clean up the drain section which must solve this issue. keep the washer tilted to drain properly.

When refitting, the hose must be tightened properly. If the pump/valve does not work even with power then it must be replaced. If there is intermittent power to the drain valve/pump then the program controller unit is a suspect.

Maytag eq plus dishwasher- how to disassemble bottom spray arm?

its probably leaving water in it and is clogged in the elecric pum or drain hose. somethins the pump has a rubber flap that will become lodged in the outlet port. this will cause dirty water to be left in the machine because of a slow drain. start by looking at the volume of water coming into garbage disposal where drain hose hooks up.

Dishwasher drain pump flapper (inlet side)

My Quiet Series does the same thing and I wondered if the orange flapper has gone bad and lets the dirty water drain back from the hose sloping up to the garbage disposal. Did you get an answer to this question? The dishwasher seemed to work fine and then it suddenly started leaving food particles on the glasses.
