SOURCE: Watch Band Adjustment

I just got this watch for a gift and was able to remove links myself after doing some research. It really isn't difficult if you are patient, have a little mechanical experience, and have some very basic "tools" available.

Tools:

  • 1 push pin like you use on bulletin boards with a plastic head
  • 1 small hammer like a tack hammer
  • 1 pair of small pliers. Needle nose pliers would be best but I used diagonal wire cutters (be careful not to cut the link pin)
  • 1 small block of wood

Try to pick a well lit table in a room where you will not be interrupted.

Procedure:
1. Lay the watch and band sideways on the block of wood so that a pin for the link you would like to remove is just hanging over the edge of the block and pointing down. You need the block to brace the band while you hammer lightly on the pin. Someone to hold the watch in that position would be helpful, but it can be done alone. Only try to remove pins that have an arrow on the back of the band pointing at them. It does not matter with this watch band which way you go with the pin.
2. Carefully line up the push pin point with the top of the pin.
3. Slowly, lightly and carefully hammer the plastic side of the push pin so that the pin in the link just emerges from the band on the bottom side enough so that you can grab it with the small pliers.
4. Slowly and carefully pull the pin straight out with the pliers. You can pick up the watch from the block of wood to get a better grip. Be careful not to bend the pin since you will need to replace at least one of the pins you remove.
5. Repeat steps 1 - 4 until the band is the correct length. I needed to take out 3 so I removed 2 from one side and 1 from the other side of the clasp.
6. To fasten the watch back together again, gently insert the pin back in the hole it came from it. You will probably need to use the tack hammer to make the top of the pin flush with the band.

SOURCE: taking back off relic watch

If this is screwback, then there should be grooves for inserting case opener claws. For this yoy need case opener with interchangeable claws. You can buy it on ebay for approx. £7.00.
If the casebask is snap-on, then there shouldn't be any grooves, just small opening (lip) between the caseback and case. This is exact point where the watchmakers knife blade must be inserted and pryed up.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not set the date or time between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m. to avoid damage to your Geneva watch. The gears sit too close together during these times.
  • If your Geneva watch becomes wet, wipe it dry as soon as possible. Keep your watch away from saunas and hot tubs, as the extreme heat diminishes the watch's water resistance.

How to set the date in sector sge 650 2653960035 watch? Thanks.

Unscrew crown. Some models of Sector Sport watches may have a screw down crown. Watches meant to be used in water will often have this feature. To test this try spinning the crown freely in both directions. If it does not spin freely it has a screw down crown. If your Sector has a screw-down crown, turn it in a counter clockwise motion to unscrew it until it pops free.

Pull crown out one click and set date. If the watch has a date perform this step, if not move on to the next step. Pull the crown out one click. Twist crown clockwise and counter clockwise to set the day and date to the previous days day and date. The purpose of this is to set the date by setting the time and insuring the watch is in the correct a.m. and p.m. mode.

Pull crown out to the next click and set time. Pull the crown out the to next click. This is the time setting mode. Set the time by turning the crown clockwise until the day or date changes to the current date. This is the a.m. mode. Continue to the correct time. If it is a p.m. time this will require moving one full circuit of the dial past the twelve again and then to the correct time. If you fail to do this, the date will change at noon. If there is no date, simply set it to the correct time.

Push in and screw down crown to retain water resistance. Push crown down into its furthest setting. If it is a screw-down crown, press the crown in with a finger and twist it clockwise. Be careful here not to cross thread the crown in the crown tube or it will need to be replaced. It should be smooth and easy to turn. If any pressure or resistance is felt stop and start over. If you fail to screw in a screw down crown your Sector Sport watch will not be water resistant.

I've lost the owner's instructions and need directions for setting the alarm.

  • Unscrew the crown (the main knob on the center right side of the watch casing), wait until the second hand is at the 12 o'clock position, and pull the crown knob up so that it clicks once.
  • 2 Press the button below the crown knob repeatedly until the hands of the alarm dial point to the time within the next 12 hours that you want the alarm to ring. Pressing the button once will move the alarm one minute forward. Pressing and holding the button will move the alarm forward quickly.
  • 3 Pull the crown knob one click further out and turn to adjust the main hands to the correct time, to take into account the time you took to set the alarm.
  • 4 Push the crown knob two clicks back into its normal position, and screw it into place until it locks.

Winding and setting the time on a rolex watch

There isn;t any downloadable manuals for Rolex watches, but operation of Rolex Day-Date is very simple:
    1) when you unscrew the crown, it is in winding position,
    2) when you pull out the crown to the first click, it is in day and date setting position (depending wich way you turn the crown).
NOTE: to adjust the day or date, previously you have to advance hands forward, passing 12 o'clock (midnight) mark and stop advancing at 4.00 a.m. using the crown in position as described in chapter 3. When done - push the crown fully in, then pull out to the first click and only then adjust the day or date.
    3) when you pull the crown further out to the second click, it is in time setting position.
To find the daytime or night time on the watch: pull out crown to the second click and advance watch hands forward till you pass the 12 mark on dial. If the date changes as you pass it - it is the night time (midnight). If the date do not change as you pass it - it is the daytime (noon).
After all settings being done, allways screw the crown back down as it protects the watch from water and moisture.
Never use watch in sauna- it's not designed for that.

How to set the time on relic watches

I had to go to the Sears counter to fix mine. The sales person had to use TWEEZERS to pull the serrated knob up. He had to really work at it. Once it is pulled up you can twist the knob to set the time and then push the knob back down. What a stupid design.
