If you are working in Windows, you should be able to go into the start menu and right click on the program and gets an option for creating a desktop icon. If that doesn't work then launch the program and when it comes up in the bottom taskbar right click the icon there and see if there's an option to create a desktop icon. The other alternative is to pin it to the taskbar which means that the icon will stay in that bottom row. I hope that helps :-)

Fsx Icon will not save on my desktop

You need to go the FSX directory, find FSX.exe, right-click this icon and drag it to the desktop, release the mouse button and choose "create shortcut here" from the fly-out menu. This will create a proper icon for you.

To create new icons, do this
I stopped using Windows 98 ages ago, So, the following instruction is from memory only.

From the Starts -> Program List
  • Locate the program for which you want an icon
  • Right click on it
  • A pop up menu appears
  • Select Create a desktop icon
A desktop icon will be created and placed on the desktop
You can go to that icon on the desktop and rename it by right clicking and ....
Do the above steps for any other programs for which you want an icon on the desktop.

If you open up your Control Panel, and make sure it is in the Classic View, you will see the icon for Add Remove Programs.

To create a folder

If you just want to create a folder on your desktop and you're going to put the icons there follow this:

Right click any place on your computer and click on New>Folder then after that you can rename the folder if you like, when folder is already on your desktop just drag those icon to the folder and that's it
