If turning the freezer cold control (thermostat) all the way doesn't turn the compressor off then the thermostat is bad.

SOURCE: Samsung side by side refrigeator

I recommend that you check to see if any fans are running in the refrigerator. If you hear nothing to indicate that it is working at all, I recommend that you check the house circuit breaker for the refrigerator outlet. If the breaker is not tripped, check to make sure that the refrigerator is plugged in. Try plugging it into a different outlet if possible. If the outlet is bad, it will need to be repaired by an electrician.

If you do hear fans running and the freezer is cooling properly, you could have an air flow problem. Check the vent on the top left inside wall of the refrigerator to make sure that it is not blocked. Also check the vent at the bottom of that wall. If these vents are blocked, the cold air will not circulate through the refrigerator section.

Check the back inside panel of the freezer for a build-up of frost or ice. This could indicate that you have a problem with the automatic defrost system. If frost builds up on the evaporator fins, it will eventually block the air flow through the refrigerator.

SOURCE: I HAVE A SAMSUNG REFRIG

Move the refrigerator forward, and pull the power cord out of the outlet. Wait approximately one minute before plugging the appliance back in. The internal microcomputer will reset itself while the power is off, clearing any minor faults.

Samsung refrig. Freezer won't freeze the sensor wire in freezer ripped in half could that make freezer not freeze and refrig. Not getting cold like it should

Yes that would do it the temperature sensor / thermister sends the info to the control board as to what the temperature is in the unit so ya that would cause that problem. If you need more detailed help visit the link below:

Refrig won't cool on either freezer or refrig side. Confirmed manual settings & allowed 24 hrs for cooling. Is there a reset switch somewhere other than manual switches inside refrig?

check that the compressor is working by feeling for motor vibrations at the compressor, hot compressor unit or hot fins or back wall of the fridge
if there is not heat then the compressor is not working
call a technician as it could be a start/run capacitor failed or compressor seized
get a quote as some compressor replacements cost as much as a new fridge
check that the utility power is getting to the fridge/freezer

Subzero 532 refrig fan(& compressor) doesn't shut off

the higher the number on a fridge the warmer it is so setting it to 1 is close to 0C
when working on a fridge or freezer always turn it off at the wall
if the fridge is keep cold but not cold enough set it back to say 3
if the compressor is running and the back fins / wall is hot then the fridge is working
use a piece of paper between the door seal and the fridge edge to ensure that it is sticking to the fridge and sealing off properly

What is the best temperature for the bottom freezer and refrig?

Set both dials in the middle.

If you have a nearly full freezer, add 1 dial unit.
If you have a nearly full refrigerator, add 1 dial unit.

If your freezer is less than half full, step down 1 dial unit
Refrigerator should not be less than mid-point on dial (it gets open more often).

This is a good starting point, adjust in a month or so.

Whirlpool Model ED5SHAXML12 is freezing food in refrigerator even when dial is at off. Happened from one day to the next.

At the refrig controls , the freezer control , controls how much air goes into the refrigerator section . Open the refrig door , and up at the top left , put your hand over the damper (air vent) . Turn the freezer control from high to low , and feel the difference in the air flow . If you turn your freezer control to a lower setting , less cold air will enter the refrig . Think of it as : the freezer control adjusts the temperature , and the refrig control , tells how long to run the compressor . In actuality , this is how it works . However , with the dial (refrigerator thermostat) in the off position and refrig still running , this indicates a bad thermostat . Pt # 2198202 .

Freezer & freezer work fine. Water stops when refrige is set at 38 degrees. To keep water from freezing we have to set the refrige temp to 40 degrees, but find that temp not cold enough. Water can...

It may have auto-defrost or frost-free feature that is not operating. Also there is a drain tube that goes from the compartments to the bottom of the fridge where the evaporator pan is. The tube may be plugged.
